Dan has a little drive by at Gladys and closes off the border bubble

"I take no pleasure in having to essentially lock out those four communities from Victoria, but there’s a refusal to lock people in Sydney into Sydney, so I have no choice but to make these changes”

At this point with NSW in the situation they are in and our vaccination strollout still dead last in the OECD, you can’t blame any Premier for taking this action.

I used to think that the PM was the Olympic champion at waffling but Gladys giving a masterclass in answering questions without actually answering them.

It's ridiculous. Its 27th July and she won't say lockdown will go past 31st July.

I genuinely fear she's going to try and open up parts of Sydney.

Dan now says if NSW can’t stop the virus leeching out he will have no hesitation in shutting off all border bubbles with NSW. Said it will cause issues with Albury hospital and other knock on effects but his state is his number 1 priority

The goss is a two-speed lockdown......

As the NSW crisis cabinet meets on the ongoing COVID outbreak, Deputy Premier John Barilaro has flagged a potential move to a “local government micro approach” to lockdowns.

Asked by Sky News host Paul Murray if the “ball has moved one inch” towards a more targeted method for lockdowns, Mr Barilaro said “I can say yes”.

“My roadmap indicates and talks about a local government micro approach, but there is a couple of steps before we get to that,” he told Sky News Australia.

Mr Barilaro said while Cabinet has debated targeted restrictions, which would free up LGAs that haven’t recorded any COVID cases during this outbreak, those discussions will continue.)

Her cabinet is clearly bitterly divided and it sounds like they are seriously considering this strategy. Much harsher restrictions in hotspot LGA’s and setting the east free to sip their green smoothies in peace… ;)

For a strain that can in some cases can jump from person to person in as little as 36 hours the rate of bringing in additional measures is surprising. I had the same thoughts when the Vic Second Wave was accelerating beyond the capacity of contact tracing.

If you are going downhill and are not stopping quickly enough, one would normally apply the brakes more firmly.

Dan giving NSW a mighty whack, not holding back

I didn’t really hear it like that to be honest I think he’s been quite measured and just calmly saying what everyone is thinking…. If you want to see someone going over the top and being unhelpful to NSW with big whacks, see what Mark McGowan was yelling yesterday… (hint: don’t bother you’ll throw up)

Wonder if its a share household...courtesy of ABC (edit: just had a scan of the exposure sites, not many above 15 minutes)

‘Mind blowing’: Fury as five test positive

Five people from one household on the NSW Central Coast tested positive to coronavirus on Monday, igniting fears of potential further spread.

The positive cases, from Budgewoi, north of Sydney, resulted in 25 new exposure sites in the area.

Authorities are also worried about two close contacts who have so far tested negative, but who were living in the same household.

Meanwhile, attention is turning to the actions of one of those contacts, who visited 25 shops in five days after being ordered to isolate.

Lake Macquarie MP Greg Piper has hit out at the act via Facebook, labelling it “disappointing”.

“I simply cannot describe that situation, but let's settle on mind blowing and disappointing,” he posted.
If your loved one died from contacting the virus due this person flagrantly ignoring an order to quarantine at home, would you want this man charged with “action causing death”? This needs to be reinforced to some people. Their actions cause HARM.

New COVID cases linked to Liverpool Hospital in NSW

The new cases include six at a unit complex in Sydney's west which has been locked down. Residents at the 50 unit block at Blacktown will remain in isolation for two weeks.

Dr Jeremy McAnulty from New South Wales Health says there have also been new infections linked to the Liverpool Hospital outbreak in Sydney's south-west.

"Two nurses and a student nurse who worked at Liverpool have tested positive ... eight patients have tested positive to COVID 19 and are isolation and [we are trying] to identify other contacts," Dr McAnulty said.

Well the advice at the moment is to shop purposefully. If someone is in a shop less than 15 minutes that seems purposeful. Whether the whole household was told to isolate (allegedly), then that's a different matter. I've heard instances during the Delta outbreak where the rest of the household are not told to isolate when a positive case arises in the household and some where the rest of the household is told to isolate.

Fairfield Hospital staff also has more cases....

I think it’s reflective of the situation she finds herself in - she doesn’t have full support of her cabinet and party so she has to fluff things up a bit when she gets hit with the harder questions…. I just don’t get any confidence from any of them…

But overall the NSW press conference was very grey and waffly - I do agree. And cut it very short again. I’m not sure that’s the best look…

It's very unfortunate that the other day in the press conference Deputy CHO McNulty misspoke and said that all but one of the people in ICU was VACCINATED. A reported later asked him to clarify and it was corrected.

But the video is being shared by anti-vaxxers all over the world.

By Ursula Malone, ABC News
NSW recorded 172 new locally acquired COVID-19 cases, the highest daily number since the Delta outbreak began in June.
Sixty of those cases were in the community while infectious.
A further 19 cases were in isolation for only part of their infectious period and the isolation status of another 32 cases is under investigation.

So 79 cases infectious in the community, and possibly some of another 32. :(

The man in question was positive and had been ordered to quarantine. He decided to go shopping instead, every day for five days!

However the idea of purposeful shopping for necessities for non-positive community members is good.

And the two deaths yesterday were unvaccinated and were eligible to be vaccinated…

Responding to your understanding they were positive t, that’s not what I read/understood
