Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Sounds like Qld has ANOTHER HQ breach! Infectious in community since 22/7 and has been staying in a backpackers since then!
Queensland is the gold standard of HQ breaches. The 13th in the last six weeks. I wonder how they will keep on deflecting the problem. What is more certain that Queensland's luck will run out.

If one were cynical one would suspect a retiring QLD CHO doesn’t really care much anymore and the QLD government is just itching to stop ALL overseas arrivals anyway and get the Feds to build us a shiny new quarantine centre… so all these breaches seem remarkably coincidental ;)

Almost like a plan to be able to put more blame on the Feds. "Told you so" kind of thing. There must be something fundamentally wrong in their set up. Maybe it's the tests?

Yes virus still spreading.

However so far in the leaked changes to the lockdown to be announced today, the changes are all easings that will allow more mixing.

Hopefully in the non leaked changes there are also some measures that will reduce the amount of mixing.

If not, then seemingly Gladys is just going on the path of hoping that vaccinations will eventually lower the adverse outcomes of people becoming infected.
You could also frame it as following the national cabinet strategy of suppression rather than elimination.

Another death :(

56 in ICU :(

Forty-seven cases were in isolation throughout their infectious period and 22 cases were in isolation for part of their infectious period. Forty-six cases were infectious in the community, and the isolation status of 62 cases remains under investigation.

68 infectious in the community, though 62 are unknown re that status.

NSW 177.
46 infectious in community (slightly positive to previous day)
But 22 partials, and 62 unknown.

Another 4 weeks of lockdown for Sydney, Wollongong and Central Coast.

Shopping restriction now same as exercise. Own LGA or 10km.
Parramatta, George's River and Campbeltown added to the more restrictive LGAs.

Non occupied construction allowed outside the 8 LGAs, with safety plans, as well as 'contactless' tradies (boo)

Yr12 schooling commences in 2 wks.
Within the 8 LGAs Pfizer to be offered to those Yr12 students.

I (plus thousands of people) am going to try to work out the definition of "non-occupied construction" ..... and "contactless tradies". Big implication there and I do feel that the definition will be stretched.

From the ABC

Victoria records another new unlinked local case

In the past hour, Victoria Health has been advised of another case.
Mr Foley said they weren't a confirmed close contact and developed symptoms on Monday night.
They were tested on Tuesday.
The person works at the Mooney Valley Racecourse drive-through testing centre as a traffic controller and worked at least two days while infectious.
But Mr Foley said there was "minimal risk" to the centre, but it has been closed and everyone who worked on the same shifts as that cases has been sent home.
He said this was very early information at this stage.
So will only be being interviewed right now.

VIC: Three days to investigate today's new case

Professor Sutton said the man was tested very quickly after being symptomatic.
That means there's one day of having symptoms and then it's assumed he was infectious for the two days before that.
He said that means there's only a three-day window in which the traffic controller was out in the community.
But we'll hear more about that when exposure sites drop later today.
So the big question is who he got it off. And if there has been a growing unknown transmission chain.

Yeah just thinking about that, surprised she got an ASIC if they did a proper background check.
..QF employee of the month…hope QF do a deep dive here to ensure strict safety/security protocols in place with such checks…
I too have wondered about civil class actions given genomic tracing is evidence and the police have confirmed what took place. Any bored lockdown lawyers on this thread who can talk to potential remedies against ‘Con-nie’ and ‘Lied’….

Was typing the exact same thing. I don't see her keeping her job.
I fly Qantas Link quite a bit and the name and face are familiar from some years back. If I'm remembering the correct person, she's an excellent FA with a nice word for everyone.
Not excusing current situation but sometimes people's personal lives gets messy.
