Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

The Victorian "twin" outbreak map -= Hobson Bay and Maribyrnong Clusters.

Each twin started with a mystery case. However based on this morning's Vic Presser
  • it is likely that the first case of each "twin" was not the first case in each cluster. ie it was other family members
  • both "twins" evidently had spreading events via household visits to other family members (Such visits being in breach of the then restrictions in force)
  • they are from the NSW Delta Strain, but whether that was via the previous Vic Outbreak is not yet known. If I had to guess the most likely source of each I would guess that Maribyrnong may be a recent incursion from NSW, as the people in the chain are suggestive of that) and Hobson Bay from the Traffic Controller (now thought to be from a person tested at Moonee Valley Testing Facility) duer the TC visiting the are at that time and his partner living in Hobsons Bay LGA. However they are both still started from mystery cases and source is unknown.

You could always put the OP on ignore, Thought of that myself but the OP is one of those people who do occasionally say something useful. We all know those people who we tend to ignore but that means we do miss an occasional gem of information.
I wish other people would just repost the gem and save the rest of us the pain.

I just hope the tide against COVID zero will come sooner rather than later. If other countries can accept living with the virus, why's it so hard for the governments here to accept it? The "suppression" strategy is clearly a lie.

This seems to ignore vaccination rates.

England was essentially in lockdown from October 2020 to April / May 2021 (in addition to all the prior lockdowns). Indoor hospitality reopened on 17 May 2021. Vaccination rates will have played a major part in the ability to 'live with the virus'.

Which is where we will 🤞be at by start of 2022.

But the way they're acting, it doesn't feel like we'll be free even with vaccination rates up.

Seems rather OK in the circumstances, dare I say it.
Yep, pretty clear that vaccination is key to living with the virus and NSW at least are looking at their strategy for this, along with the change in narrative about zero cases to ‘close to zero active in the community’. Of course that’s only one state.

Its perfectly valid to compare UK/AU on vaccines, but not on managing the spread which is this thread. UK did not shut borders, they let the virus in while in lockdowns. We tried to keep the virus out and had lockdowns. Two very different stories really, as my UK based family constantly tells me.

Not everyone can get vaccinated even if eligible.....

Some people cannot be vaccinated against many things. I can't receive active vaccines so shingles one is out for me. DIL warned me to be extra vigilant when her son had the rota vaccine because I could have developed it when changing his nappy. Whilst an outbreak like this is distressing, once it is in the community then such people are at risk but I can't see this is the fault of any one Government. Delta was a game changer. Lockdown earlier may have prevented his death, or not. The gentleman was at risk of so many viral diseases. It sounds as though he was very frail.

I heard Dan Andrews say very similar this morning from a clip presumably taken yesterday.
