Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

Yes. According to one group fighting to get NSW to release the advice - every other State & Territory does. Some more easily than others, such as Victoria.

So provide a link then.

Hint: It doesn't exist. And no, interviewing someone about the health advice is not the same as releasing the health advice.

WA maybe. Someone in one of these threads provided me a link once but no hope of finding it again.
Yes WA were forced to after mounting pressure on their ridiculous rules and invisible CHO led people to suspect the WA gov was making it up rather than following the advice (which was partially true). But I think it was a once off to shut people up.

but means we are finding out about cases much later than we were

Which can be blamed on all those who whinged that numbers were confusing and forced adherance to 8pm cut-off whereas for the prior 18 months we had always been given official numbers to 8pm plus an update on cases since 8pm. Sydney has been putting up with this lesser information since June, its ridiculous.

The Hunter is no worse off than Sydney in that respect. But id like to see a return to the old way of reporting.

Vic Presser Sutton

Was asked by Dan Andrews to explain his health advice for the lockdown extension.

Sutton explained that movement across suburbs by essential workers and the as at yet unlinked cases and hence unknown transmission chains were the main reasons for the extension.

ie One needs to assume that spread can occur from an infected LGA to other ones with no cases as there is required movement by essential workers. Lockdown is required to continue to minimise the rapid spread that can occur from he Delta Strain.

Yes, that's what it was. HNE were alerting cases as soon as they were identified, and now they've stopped doing that to align with Sydney.

But a lot of the time we still hear the case if it's come from a school or workplace that chooses to make it public.

That's interesting. I guess there is just too much happening in Sydney
Is there something in NSW outside of Sydney?

I thought that was just Queensland, Victoria, SA, WA, The ACT, Tasmania & the NT.

That's what we're told. ;)

Permits announced for Victoria’s border bubble with NSW

There are currently six reasons to move within the NSW/VIC border bubble.

From 1:00pm tomorrow , but not enforced until 6:00pm Friday, if people want to use the bubble they will need to apply for a permit .

The permits will be available from tomorrow.

“If this virus can get f rom Sydney to Byron Bay, to Dubbo, to Armidale, to Tamworth then only a fool would think it can’t get to Albury . It absolutely can,” Premier Daniel Andrews said.
“The inconvenience of having to get a permit is nothing compared to being locked down.”

and ABC news just named and shamed him!
Is from Rose Bay.

Got named last night by 9 and a few other minor publications. As was the eldest adult son.
Twittersphere quickly established that the son also has problems following other driving laws.

I'm mostly speaking about the contact tracing locations, and if you are using the list view they are not grouped into regions. Yes you can use the map view but that's not very mobile friendly.

However you cans search the list view by suburbs you have been to:

I'm sure you know Newcastle is large and has many suburbs like Sydney or any other major city... ones that don't have Newcastle in the name.

I'm not saying the site doesn't work, it's just not great, and if you want people to be checking this daily, it's not user friendly at all.

It wouldn't be hard to add a filter by LGA

Of course but given you are in lockdown and can only travel 10km, how many of those suburbs would an individual need to check? If you have been checking in using QR you get an SMS if you have been at an exposure venue.

The site isnt perfect but the information is there if you invest a minute or two.

And those flouting the rules causing the continued spread are unlikley to be checking the website anyway, as they care not for their fellow citizens.

Not saying it's not there - but you've got to make it easy for people. Most of the contact tracing locations coming out are still pre-lockdown (we are about a week behind) so some have many areas to check.

Most of the Newcastle based MPs are developing their own lists just with the Newcastle locations. I'd say the average person are just using them and not the official source, which I think is a problem as there's a lot of room for duplication errors and the additional time for these non-official lists to be published.

There's 69 locations listed for Greater Newcastle, we're not just talking about a handful of locations here. It's really easy to miss them if you search suburb by suburb (eg if you think your shopping centre is in one suburb but legally it's in the adjacent one)

Please do not believe all the PR spin being promulgated by the Federal Govt & others. True, some people who are fully mobile, in full control of their faculties and have legal control on their decision - have decided to wait for Pfizer or perhaps not have a vaccine at all - but these people are in the minority.

Not every elderly person 'made the decision not to be vaccinated', some may have but many did not.

Just like the nearly 11,000 Disability Care facility residents still to get their 1st vaccine dose, or over 30%.

Disability Provider Alert
23 April 2021
The Australian Government has contracted ASPEN to continue the rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine for people with disability living in residential accommodation of two or more people eligible under phase 1a.
The rollout of the COVID-19 vaccine will ramp up with ASPEN from early May 2021, initially targeting the smaller states and territories; the Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory. They will then expand to other states and territories.

As of last Friday over 1/3rd remain unvaccinated despite over $167m paid to have them & workers fully vaccinated at their locations by Week 6.

Then 'quietly' changed on April 23rd - no grand announcement by Scott Morrison nor Greg Hunt though. Workers to get AZ only from GPs.

Then when zero vaccinations for anyone - residents or workers - revealed in the Disability Care Royal Commission special hearing on Covid - the Federal Govt committed to make residents their 'Top priority'.

Now, 18 weeks after both workers & residents were to be fully vaccinated - over 1/3rd of residents are yet to get their 1st dose.

Maybe consider this example before condemning others.

The Federal Govt are the one's who should be condemned - politicians & senior bureaucrats presiding over this debacle.

Im certainly not suggesting the government is without blame. That said, it’s now August. These groups have been eligible for the vaccination since February. At some point, people or their families need to take a bit of responsibility for themselves. We have made the conscious decision to keep my 90 year old grandmother out of aged care, however I was very quick to ensure she was vaccinated as soon as it was available. Had she been in an aged care facility and they were dragging their feet, I’d have done the same.

Yes, I appreciate there are some people in facilities without capacity and family to assist them, however they are a very small minority.

Certainly blame the government. I’ll be standing right behind you waving a flag. But that doesn’t totally dissolve people of personal responsibility.

So why is Iceland then (at 86% of population vaccinated) having such issues with Delta curently? It's never all over..it just changes the goalposts and we play again.
Iceland an oddity, super Vax rate, but their population less than Tasmania & just above Geelong.

I don't know their target, hospital rate etc etc circumstances etc

We'll all have Delta once we open up, no doubting that even at 100% vac rate we'd have Delta & any other variants that show their face.
80% our target for as close to herd immunity as possible, Doherty Institute research indicate this.
Gov will not at 80% say, oh no we need 85% or add T&C's, no chance.

If & looking like 80% is hit prior to Fed Election, the PM would just shoot any chance he has of re-election (technically not re-election I know) if he didn't open.
Cases irrelevant by then, hospital & ICU cases the keys.

Delta is a Gamechanger.....
