I know the testing has to be done somewhere

Path clinics
Drs surgeries
All the staff should follow the CovidProtocols including social distancing while waiting
But then you have the patients who maybe only have a mask.

My Gp turned the carpark into a waiting area and only two patients in that waiting area.

Sounds like that path clinic not following the rules…

Yes but the Swabees are not told of this by the Swabbers. So the whole town is anxious when they don’t get a result.

And the problem is that some will have to isolate until a neg result is received, which may be extended because the result is delayed.

ACT: 41 positives tests, 3k -ve tests, reporting 96% first dose (not sure what basis).
NSW: 587 positive tests, 112k tests, 89% first dose - 70% second dose (16+), 181 ICU
Vic: 1638 positive tests, 77k tests, 84.4% first dose - 55% second dose (16+?), 115 ICU
Tas: no new positive tests

Sydney - starting to see some postcodes with no active cases on the NSW heatmap.

Lots of upgraded relaxations announced today. Media release which contains information is: NSW on the road to reopening

And I think its been updated/incorporated into: Reopening starts at 70% vaccination (eg it includes the increases to 10 indoor cap and 30 outdoor cap for gatherings that were announced today)

I hadn't read the NSW weekly surveillance reports for a while, but took a look at the lates one from w/e 18th Sept and some interesting stats:

Far West and Western NSW LGAs are outliers for positivity rates.

I found these calculations interesting.

They are interesting. If you take ACT as collateral damage from NSW, basically the two States that have the most dense pockets of population have by far the highest multiplier. Looking at the figures, it would seem reasonable to suggest an exponential relationship between density of population and infection rate.
Makes sense and leads me to wonder why we are so paranoid in Tasmania?

NSW positive rate on tests
High levels of testing has been one of the (many) highlights of the efforts of the NSW citizens.

Politicians should not however continue to demand burdensome compliance from the citizens.

Politicians should start bending to the will of the electorate. If they do not know what that is, then recall parliament

Fears NSW Premier has ‘sidelined’ NSW CHO health advice

NSW’s Premier Dominic Perrottet’s decision to further ease restrictions for the state from Monday has continued to attract criticism, with Australia’s top doctor warning “excessive deaths” may follow.

President of the Australian Medical Association (AMA), Dr Omar Khorshid, said he was “very concerned” about the shift in NSW’s approach to managing Covid-19 and the “potential sidelining of public health advice”.

Dr Khorshid said the fact the changes were announced without chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant being present and renaming the Crisis Cabinet the Economic Recovery Committee suggests health advice will “no longer guide the NSW government”.

“The AMA is concerned that the decisions taken in NSW since the change of leadership signal a very different approach to that taken under the leadership of former Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
