Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I don’t care which Govt is in power but this behaviour must surely drive the Govts insane. Almost to the extent of Joe Public asking what’s the point of doing everything right when it takes just one covidiot to cause so much harm.

I guess if we were more progressed in the vaccination program this wouldn't even matter, would not even be news - so I'd suggest the Govts are probably going more insane with their constituents going 'la-di-da on my own time 'about getting the jab!

I dont think they want to lockdown, but unless they get his apartment building isolated and tested and info from him and uber to test and isolate passengers, and get negative results. He should have been wearing a mask driving uber. The big worry is where has he been in the community and not checked in for that week. Because if we get more cases not in his uber or apartment complex then i think they will have no choice but a snap 3 -7 day lockdown. This then might close border bubble and western aust will lock us out regardless.

SA is a good case in point. From my observations, mask wearing has been fairly sensible. You still see cars go by with the only occupier being a masked driver but on the whole people seem to only wear them in shops and crowded streets.
I've visited three times recently and each time the approach to masks is noticably more relaxed. Last trip, some shop owners weren't even bothering.
I have noticed a few places in cafes where the staff aren't wearing masks - I won't be going back to them

Whilst totally respecting your choice, I'd place the quality of the coffee higher on my priorities than whether the staff are masked.
Those eating in the cafe are not masked, the staff out the back aren't masked. The front line staff wearing a mask might reduce the risk by some minute fraction but if I was that concerned, I wouldn't be entering a cafe in the first place. Safest option is stay home.

Well, 8 hours to go here in Melbourne. Feels good knowing this is the end, and lockdowns are finished except in cases where they might actually be warranted.

In any case, I am sincerely looking forward to never seeing, holding or printing out my "Authoried Worker Permit" so I can be out of my house after 8pm ever again. Dystopian, communist stuff that has no place in this country.

Yep. Masks in their current form are largely optics. I believe a few politicians have mentioned this. Realistically, they aren’t offering a great deal of protection (especially with the on again, off again, on the chin, in the pocket routine).

I personally wouldn’t try to further impact a struggling small business because of a few mask slip ups.

The US airlines rule of having to wear your mask in between bites and sips is even more ridiculous. That probably does more harm than good.

sure but I have around 20 cafes within a 15 minute walk and I don't drink coffee ;) :)

They are progressively becoming more and more tyrannical as the years go by -from their point of view, their tyranny is exercised for the good of its customers and is approved and guided by their “safety is our first priority” mantra.

“Covid infection rate among Coffee drinkers vs non coffee drinkers after lockdown removed.

And if n is large enough we could even have data subsets - latte vs flat white, keep cup vs non keep cup, soy vs skim
And almond milk. Need to have that in.

I think I read it was 260 days total.

Honestly for our family it just became the norm!
Not good, not good.

EDIT: 264 days.
