Why don't we need to be concerned about asymptomatic cases? These are the people who unwittingly might spread the disease to those more at risk, such as when visiting grandma. There is no problem if everyone they are close to are vaccinated, but that may not be the case. (And no, I am not referring to the voluntarily unvaccinated.) Omicron is already spreading stealthily, but people who are asymptomatic should still test if they were at suspect premises or gatherings, for the safety of those at risk. What is unusual is all this effort to find asymptomatic cases which we need not worry about. If you are asymptomatic or have a sniffle it is not like you are sitting on a health time bomb.
But if asymptomatic and they have not been to places on the contact list, why should the population have a PCR test? Testing healthy, non-contacts is a waste of time and money. You may as well test the entire population!
