Same person who was at the Star 7.30-10.30pm??

Time to shut pokie rooms statewide.

Here are the new cases from Crossroads and there is now tertiary transmission occurring.

Doesn't say if its the same person though.....

21 cases in Crossroads Hotel cluster

The COVID-19 cluster connected with Sydney’s Crossroads Hotel has grown to 21.

Another three people are believed to have contracted the virus from the hotel, along with four of their close contacts, and a woman in her 50s who is considered a “tertiary” case. (She contracted COVID-19 from one of the close contacts, not directly from a hotel case).

The 8 new cases include:

  • A South-western Sydney man in his 40s who attended the hotel on 3 July
  • A South-western Sydney woman in her 20s who attended the hotel on 3 July
  • A South-western Sydney man in his 30s who attended the hotel on 4 July
  • Two teenagers who are close contacts of people who caught COVID from the hotel
  • A child who is also a close contact
  • A South-western Sydney man in his 20s who is also a close contact
  • The woman in her 50s who is a “tertiary” case.

A piece of good news about vaccines but for TB.Vaccine rates going up and deaths nearly halved since 1990.But still 13 per 100000 still dying of TB per year.

So we keep hoping for a Covid vaccine.

curious to know what people think on how it got from dining to gaming sections which are usually separate areas.

- just a 3/7 diner who gambled in different Areas Of Sydney
- the upstream source both dined and gambled
- the upstream source used the common bathroom which both dining and gaming use
- some other Explanation
(I don’t think the staff could have passed it until at least 5/7 right?)

Edit: scrub my question....5 minutes ago abc covid live blog reports it’s one person’s movements

We had a few issues with our transcription service during Dr Chant's press conference, which may have led to some errors in the venues she mentioned where a person subsequently diagnosed with coronavirus had visited. Apologies — the correct list is here:

  • Zone Bowling at Villawood (June 27 between 11am-3pm)
  • The Picton Hotel gaming room (July 4, 5, 9 and 10)
  • Star City Casino Sydney (July 4 between 8-10.30pm)
  • Canterbury Leagues Club (July 4 between 11pm-1am)
  • Murray Downs Golf Club (July 4 and 5)
  • Highfield Caringbah, in southern Sydney (July 5, between 6-9pm)
  • COOK at Kurnell (July 5 between 11.30am-12.30pm)
  • Merimbula RSL (July 6 between 6-9pm)
  • Narellan Town Centre shopping centre (July 6 including Kmart, Target, Best & Less, H&M, and the food court area)
  • Planet Fitness, Casula (July 6-10)
  • The Waterfront Cafe, Merimbula (July 7 between 8.30-9.30am)

The list of venues represent places visited by various people who subsequently tested positive — not just one very busy person.

I get the impression that there was no social distancing at CrossRoads Hotel.

I was looking to head to NSW for a few days next week but the way the numbers are going Qld might shut the border.

NRL Bulldogs centre into isolation as his parents are at Crossroads on 3 July (and he lives at home)

Heard the MP on the News and she said that there was certainly sufficient distancing in the restaurant on the night she visited.

I read a comment from a patron saying there was social distancing but they did not record details of all patrons because as a patron themselves they just walked up to bar and ordered without being asked for contact details.

of course, hotel and industry association saying they complied. Apparently there is a list, but by the sounds of it, it’s not nearly complete.

under police investigation now.

when I went to a nearby fast food outlet to eat , nearly no one used the qr scanning code to register themselves at that table.

Sorry @nutwood (I think)

i think last night/yesterday I thought you would be ok to go to Sydney On 15/7. Now given today’s results, it’s now touch and go.

Pokies seem to be the common thread - same person was at Crossroads, played pokies at Picton Hotel and was also at Star City.

I was supposed to resume pub trivia this week, but will not be going now, as there are pokies (albeit in a different area) at the trivia pub, and one common bar and bathroom. My mum is immuno compromised so best I not risk visiting any venue that has pokies.

The way some of this stuff gets reported, its sounds like more people, when in fact it is the same infected person visiting multiple sites. Im thankful Ive no need to go anywhere near south west or south Sydney, not the regional areas which have impacted (Wagga Wagga and Merimbula).

I really hope they can get on top of this and that the Qld border remains open for those of us who have been following the rules.

Looks like 31 cases in regional Vic (exc. Mitchell Shire) in the last 2 weeks, of which 27 are still active. Of the 27, 12 in 3 of the 4 biggest provincial cities, Shepparton, Bendigo and Geelong. One curiosity is that nothing has been detected in #2 - Ballarat, especially given proximity to Melton, Hume and Brimbank. Must be too cold for people to travel to 🤣

Not saying that she is not truthful, but can't imagine her saying that social distancing was poor but I stayed anyway

I wonder if she left her details, as many patrons are claiming that details were often not being recorded.

Might be so cold that the virus is frozen ;)

However with the cases residential address used, and that is not necessarily where the person was infected or is living.

So there could be more people infected in the regional areas. However the commentary does not seem to reflect an of this actually occurring.

Good news 54 minutes ago on ABC covid live blog...

ADF personnel tested negative, but still isolating as per NSW Health directions.

Of note to those interested in the AFL and sport in general is that sadly that Richmond premiership player Bachar Houli's mother is in intensive care with COVID-19.

"I want to share a personal experience with the current situation we're all facing with this COVID-19," Houli said in his video.

"My family's been affected by COVID-19 and it's been a tough time, when you're restricted and you're isolated and it's very touching.

"More specifically, my mother's been affected a lot. She's currently in ICU undergoing some heavy treatment and the team in ICU is taking care of her.

"Her current state is a mixed one. God knows best her situation but what burns and what hurts truly is the fact no one from her family members can go and visit, which is very, very tough.

"Please put yourself in this position. I don't want you to feel sorry for me but rather think about it in general and think about it as it being you and part of your family, and hopefully you can change your mindset about COVID-19.

"The reality is it is out there and I'm experiencing it right now within my family. Please, I urge you, for the sake of Allah, to go get tested.

"If you're showing any form of symptoms, if you're not showing any symptoms, please do your bit."

He did decide not to go into the Hub with the other players but said it was because his wife was expecting a baby. And while this is desperate for his family, it might just send a message to those younger people who just dont seem to give a damn. Unfortunately it is exactly this kind of wake up call that many needed. He is indeed a powerful influencer. Id expect the Project to make this sad situation a feature.

Unfortunately, some are not listening, and probably still don’t intend to.

On security guards.

Australian Border Force have confirmed that security guards working at Sydney’s Villawood Immigration Detention Centre are self-isolating after attending a party at the Crossroads Hotel in Casula.

The ABF refused to say how many staff from the detention centre were currently in isolation, but confirmed security guards who had recently been to the pub were following advice from NSW Health and were all currently self-quarantining.

The Refugee Action Coalition claimed as many as 30 guards are self-isolating after attending a Serco manager’s party at the Crossroads Hotel on the weekend of July 4.

The pub is the site of a coronavirus outbreak. NSW Health has told anyone who visited it between July 3 and July 10 to immediately self-isolate for 14 days and be tested for Covid-19.

Three detainees in Villawood told Guardian Australia on Monday evening that they had not been told anything about the staff’s attendance at the venue. However, they said that some guards and other staff had been wearing masks and gloves since Sunday, which they had not previously seen.
At the end of March there were over 400 people held in detention at Villawood.

So these arent the people manning the quarantine hotels but a gathering of security guards who manage a different facility? Which in itself isnt against Covid regulations as long as social distancing is in place?
