Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

All female & already seen the bad side of medicine.

I just have a feeling that they are talking of ward meetings and not handover meetings.
When handover meetings at LGH went back to face to face meetings I was given the job of distancing monitor.Only issued 1 warning. It meant of course I attended every hand over meeting.

However on the wards things were certainly different mainly because the rooms allocated for doctors were small.Apart from myself there was a registrar,2 interns and 3 students on the team. The doctors rooms were only meant to have 2 people. Most of us did stay outside but it meant some could not hear what was going on.We did try our best though.

Shouldn’t you be out on a beach somewhere? No, I’m not jealous, not at all. 🤬

Unfortunately, the great majority of Tasmanians are happy to have the drawbridge stay up.

Going to introduce some scheme ( free govt money) for us to holiday in the state, something like the NT scheme. As I no longer pay tax, I’m all in favour of government hand outs for me to holiday. Saffire would be nice.

Maybe Comrade Gutwein will look at the UK policy of subsidising 50% of restaurant meals? Just as long as he doesn't expect further help from the Feds.

... our flight from Brisbane had better not be diverted to Melbourne or we would not be allowed to go home ...

Better chance of winning the lottery, I think. 😉

Edit: Although fog at ADL should never be ruled out at this time of the year. Maybe just avoid an early morning flight. Hang on, there’s only one flight a day isn’t there?

But how the heck were they able to exit the airport?

According to the SMH.com.au "the women did not have an exemption to enter the state and were transferred to the Novotel Hotel in Perth to stay in quarantine until a return flight could be arranged."

Speaking of fog. I once had flight from SYD to MEL late at night. On reaching MEL flight began circling and stated that fog was too heavy for us to land and so we may to divert to another state.

A few circles later pilot announced fog had cleared and so could land.

We then landed, but then we were noticeably veering around the taxi way and then stopped. Pilot then announced that as he could not see the taxi-way due to the fog, that he had radioed for a support vehicle to show us the way to the terminal ;)

I think if border restrictions run into Christmas with transmission rates at the level of NSW being used as justification you’ll start to see the premiers becoming increasingly unpopular.
There are a lot of families who will be separated if this happens and the justification will become increasingly challenged. You will also see civil disobedience at the borders.

Agree and could even be sooner, its starting to simmer now

Well there is already loads of civil disobedience but yes will be more

Good news at least that freight hasn't been involved - imagine the panic that would have caused...

Also good news in the sense that hopefully this wakes some people up that community transmission cannot ever really be eliminated.

Melbourne cool storage link to Auckland cluster ruled out

The New Zealand Health Department has also ruled out the virus having returned to Auckland on chilled surfaces on materials that had arrived at an Americold cool storage facility in Mount Wellington from an Americold facility in Melbourne.

If the borders are closed there,s probably a good reason. Maybe people need to take a deep breath And think about it

Well with no actual freight between the two Americold facilities that particular transmission path was always a wild goose chase.

If freight was to be involved then it would need to be from a facility that they actually received freight from.

More people will come. It wasn’t a beat up. The number of ACT people was always 100 never hundreds Also some poor people abandoned their cars and possessions with friends and flew back, because they had to be in Canberra e.g. a doctor. If it could be resolved in 6 days it could have been resolved in 1 or 2. A disgraceful bureaucratic exercise.

Edit - 42 people have registered their intention to drive back.

The number for ACT was always 100 - there are others from NSW who have been caught in the snap cancelling of permits.
Final figure for ACT people who returned was 120, so more than stated in the “beat up.”

With a total of 3 cases in NSW today out of 8 million people, it’s hard to justify.

Oh the QLD gov will just find something else to like the fact NSW testing rates have been very low, there are still heaps of unknown source cases they have no idea where they got it etc etc

Whatever fits their narrative. NSW can't win sorry.

Eventually the money tap will turn off.
