SA presser delayed from 11:30am to 1:30pm now.
Hopefully just gathering all the info. Did sound like they could let some out of quarantine once the tracers had done their work.

In Vic all close contacts must quarantine till day 11 and receiving a negative test. If a positive test result they stay in quarantine.

If they chose not to get tested they must quarantine for a total of 24 days from their last exposure to the virus.

For contacts of close contacts it is different I believe, but tests were/are still done.

Yes. That’s the case in SA too. However the Pizza Lie saga has taught us that people don’t always do as they are supposed to. And it only takes one.

At the moment the whole school and their family members have been locked down until they can be sure who exactly is a close contact or not. No issues with that approach as long as non close contacts can be established quickly.

No new cases in NSW for 19th day in a row

There have been no locally acquired coronavirus infections in NSW for a 19th consecutive day. Zero cases were also confirmed among returned travellers in hotel quarantine in the 24 hours to 8:00pm yesterday. There were 14,885 people tested during the reporting period.

Also note:

South Australia has added Woodville High School in Adelaide’s western suburbs to its list of venues of concern. Anyone now in NSW who attended the school on Monday 23 November must get tested and isolate immediately, and contact NSW Health on 1800 943 553

2 cases in SA today.
The Woodville High student plus another already in quarantine.
The girl purchased a Pizza at the infamous shop on November 14th

I do not understand the logic as to why today they seem almost blasé yet the circumstances of the infection are the same as the guy who lied, in his original story. From a pizza box. Unless and they refuse to disclose due to privacy apparently they aren’t disclosing any more. Just that it’s complex. And again. 🤷‍♀️
I’m posting this from a medical radiology centre as I have to have a scan. Only one other person wearing a mask. Neither are the staff.

November the 14th is twelve days ago? Hopefully she didn't get it from the pizza shop or an almighty can of worms is about to explode!

She did. But they aren’t concerned like last week. This was questioned by the media but further details weren’t provided because of “privacy”. I’m assuming some kind of closer contact with staff. At least, I hope so.

So the girl seems like a true community transmission as opposed to being a close contact .
They don’t regard known situations as community transmission in SA.

Oh to have a national definition that all these silly states agree too.... :)

Yes by most other states definition it is community transmission to trigger things like the QLD CHO's famous border clock for example,

She contracted the virus from purchasing a pizza twelve days ago and that's not serious? I'm thinking your "closer contact" scenario has to be correct. Otherwise she's been walking around for twelve days spreading pizza crumbs and virus. If the virus is as contagious as reported, that's a lot of potential community transmission and the birds will have pecked up the crumbs by now. No following her that way!

People contracted the virus in Victoria from purchasing meat from a butcher at Chadstone. Air has been a well established mechanism for the transmission of this virus. Who knows what happened, but most times people "pick up" a pizza involves entering the store and having an interaction with someone who has prepared the pizza, which is much more likely than the virus being on the pizza box or the pizza itself. Sometimes, if the pizza is not ready, they might even hang around in the store for 5 minutes or more whilst it comes ready. Was it pre-ordered or did she place the order in store and wait? Lot's of possible scenarios that don't involve pizza crumbs.

South Australia's chief public health officer Professor Nicola Spurrier confirmed the infected girl had picked up a pizza from Woodville Pizza Bar on November 14.

Well the last time that was meant to have happened (Spurrier stated that it was a 10 minute visit) SA Health overreacted and went into massive lockdown. So good to see that despite them stating at the time that if they had their time over again that they would do the same thing, that they have not and have instead have gone with what they should have done the first time around.

But last time that happened, they shut down the State. This time? Nup. What a difference a week makes.

Yeh, they soiled the bed (being polite) last week didn't they?
When asked what penalties would be applied because the girl was supposed to be in quarantine until Saturday, we were told that she couldn't impose any because a) clearly she hadn't been on social media to find out the quarantine (yeah, a teenager not being on social media for over a week 😂); and b) we can't deter people from being tested.

Whereas any social misfit who doesn't give a toss about Covid now has an excuse not to quarantine if asked to do so, and as long as they get tested on Day 12, well, that's ok then.

I had a chest x-ray as part of a pre-deployment medical this week, and it was gloves and mask (they provided) or you weren't even allowed into the building. Very cautious...

Shut the border ASAP Gladys!

Quarantined traveller tried to escape quarantine in Brisbane. Had to be apprehended by police who’ve subsequently been sent into isolation after the traveller returned a positive test.

So lets see how this goes:

Tas accepts mercy flight, but not SA residents yet

Tasmania will accept a coronavirus mercy flight from India and seasonal workers from Timor Leste but is keeping its border closed to South Australia for at least a few more days.

Premier Peter Gutwein on Thursday said the state had struck a deal with the Morrison government to accept a flight of Australians from Delhi on December 6.

Those on board would be processed by Border Force at a hangar at Hobart Airport, rather than allowed into the terminal.

Tasmania Police would escort them on to buses and then escort the buses to hotel quarantine, where the arrivals would undergo 14 days mandatory isolation and regular COVID-19 testing.

Mr Gutwein said Tasmania Police would be responsible for “managing and supervising… 24/7” hotel quarantine security, with assistance from the Australian Defence Force and two private security guards per shift.

“There will be no supervisory role in terms of guests for private security personnel – they will simply be monitoring the main doors and exits,” he said.

In all, Tasmania would accept 450 people on three mercy flights, under the terms of the agreement with the federal government.
