Naughty!I do.
Naughty!I do.
You have a harsh view on these matters. In my younger years my official address was often several addresses, and occasionally several States, behind my current location. If you receive a health order to stay home and the Police or NSW Health go to the address on file in your Service NSW account and find you not there (and the person who actually lives there confirms you dont live there) you could get hit with a infringement notice and be charged with providing false data.
Another implication of not maintaining a correct address is that the same database is linked with Jury Duty and Electoral Roll databases. Failure to keep your address consistent with the state government may mean you don’t get a Jury Duty summons if it is posted, and that is a *very* big fine if you no show. You have a harsh view on these matters. There's a basic philosophic point as to whether we are beholden to the State (ie: obliged to update details) or whether the State is simply there to provide services to the tax payer and if you don't update your details, you don't get your drivers license renewal. The point is worth pondering.
Well I get mail that is addressed to all addresses. My main address is the one on my drivers licence and I go there five days out of 7 but don’t sleep there. Last year for the last three years MrP spent more nights in Melbourne apartment than the SA one. Where does he live?Another implication of not maintaining a correct address is that the same database is linked with Jury Duty and Electoral Roll databases. One big brother idea that the state could implement is barring people subject to health orders from checking in to venues - you go to check in with your SNSW app and get a big red X.

No. It gets sent to each address or via email. Define Primary Address when work is four days a week interstate for most months of the year. You mean that it’s all collated into one location?
I think that for the purposes of Drivers Licenses you must nominate a primary address.
I’d speculate that you must have one address otherwise you have an invalid electoral enrolment (a no no) and an invalid drivers license. I didn’t realise government departments would support three mailing addresses - mine certainly won’t. Anyway OT.No. It gets sent to each address or via email. I think it’s still officially 10 over the past 4 weeks - as at 8pm yesterday. So what’s the latest mystery case count, still 6 unlinked and no index case still?
Agree. As for FIFO workers, where is their permanent address. Many of my friends have secondary properties as do we, and as we age we spend more equal time in each but we are only registered in one electoral district. We pay council rates for a couple of places. The world has to catch up.In 1993 I had 8 different addresses in 3 countries. The first 7 addresses were temporary and when I moved into the last address I updated my DL. Governments then couldn’t cope with that sort of life then and they are not much better now. The only improvement is that now most Government departments record / use email addresses and mobile numbers.

It's only a very big fine if the jury summons was actually delivered to you and you chose to ignore it. As yet there's no law against having a long holiday and there's no actual obligation (as far as I know?) to maintain a check on your mail.Another implication of not maintaining a correct address is that the same database is linked with Jury Duty and Electoral Roll databases. I believe that in NSW at least it is assumed that the posted notice is sufficient. If you then rely on a defence of not updating your address than you can be fined for that too. Otherwise everyone would use that excuse to get out of jury duty. This is exactly what happened to a friend. It's only a very big fine if the jury summons was actually delivered to you and you chose to ignore it. The majority of people have one fixed address but there's plenty who have multiple. For voting and official purposes they may have to nominate one as a principal address but it is only a nominal address. COVID has added a whole new unexpected element to this. What if your nominated address is quarantined but you don't actually live there?
Dr FM received a fine for not turning up for jury duty, even though she had immediately updated her address when moving from Dubbo to Sydney. They had sent all the jury notices to Dubbo, but the fine to Sydney. We are talking about 6 months after she had updated her address. When she phoned to complain, they waived the fine and it said it was common to have a very big lag in updating databases...I believe that in NSW at least it is assumed that the posted notice is sufficient. Yep. But you had proof you’d done the update. Anyway OT.Dr FM received a fine for not turning up for jury duty, even though she had immediately updated her address when moving from Dubbo to Sydney. You are welcome to your opinions but personally have always felt that in a state vs individual basis the state tends to win. ‘Believing’ your individual freedom means you don’t have to inform of changes to address to relevant authorities is all very well but won’t get you far with the judge if the law says you do need to inform them. You have a harsh view on these matters. Lots of internet angst about Cricket Australia’s decision to continue the Sydney Test, just like the fireworks.
Although if you replayed the last five years as a montage most people probably couldn’t tell the difference!Last year it was “cancel the fireworks! There are bushfires”, this year “cancel the fireworks! We’re getting 3 cases a day”. God knows what next year will be
I would say the annual fireworks display is a great international representation of Australia’s relative success against the coronavirus. It will be a strong boost for our international image.
Very true. But with an empty Times Square, it will probably be the biggest event in the world!Although if you replayed the last five years as a montage most people probably couldn’t tell the difference!
My main concern is that other premiers will wag their finger at us and say we are being irresponsible. Particularly Victoria.
