Australian Reports of the Virus Spread

I agree, and obviously going on the the balcony and talking to a person on an adjacent balcony would be a bad thing. Previously I mentioned high rise outdoor peak windgusts could really drive air from out the doors (airfoil analogy), or say modulating the elevator shaft, and common service risers. Bathrooms are complicated. If say both are sitting on the loo, could an air pressure differential transfer airborne between rooms? I have also seen pipe U bends cut off for 'they tend to block'.

Next hotel, or unit inspection, look to see if the bathroom roof has been wetted and painted over. Poke your head into the teeny 1sq foot manhole for 'urgent modifications'. Hacked a hole for security, internet, air cond power. Indep Air Cond may eliminate common ducts. I would think it impossible for air to go through precaste concrete panels, yet at Opal Towers, they omitted grouting and some got whopping cracks. So anything is possible. Do not assume. Test, and do the test on a windy stormy day. Especially on hotel rooms thought linked to mystery reasons. Mercaptin is lovely stuff, and there is sensitive gear to detect it way before you smell it.

And now we have to be worried about the new double mutant Indian strain

Particularly as India is seemingly out of control - and in an election period which means lots of rallys.

Hong Kong has now banned Indian flights after they recorded 47 positives fron a single flight (all HK bound pax are required to have a negative test result no more than 3 days before travel)

As has the UK. We must follow suit. Also a time of many religious festivals.

Yes, I know it will be unpopular with the Indian community, but we must protect the majority here. Ban arrivals from India, and find a way to ensure they haven't come via a third country too.

Can't find a proper thread but had to laugh.
Anzac Day RSL bodies have had to submit a Covid Safe plan. One area was stating they had submitted a several plans to SA Health. All denied.

In frustration they contacted SA Health, who had already been called upon by the Premier to ensure that Anzac Day commemorations could proceed due to media backlash. SA Health said they would complete the application on their behalf. Some numpty bureaucrat in SA Health refused the SA Health completed application. 😱😂. RSL just laughed.

Suggest the RSL consider a pitch invasion of the Port/St Kilda match... highlighting the hypocrisy of allowing tens of thousands of people to congregate for sport but not for commemoration of ANZAC.

Oh. But the footy is commemorating ANZAC Day. 😡

And Police just now walked into the Qantas Club in Adelaide. Crime clearly not an issue these days.

SAPOL or Feds? I'd have thought it would be the Feds pushing their ego's around in the airport?

Gees that'll get you in trouble 🤣

But Feds. Their ego's are more often than not next level. Unsurprising really as they tend not to have much to do other than stand around like the proverbial spare at a wedding. They would no doubt be enjoying the power trip.

And, as we know, footy players are essential workers. Australian Veterans, not so much.

Anzac marches and services would be low risk covid wise as outdoors where super easy to keep your physical distance - more space than at the footy that is for sure. Its really appalling the privilege that sports are given.

There is no ABC News Covid Blog today, the last couple of times they took a break from the blog we saw community cases within the day. Hope history doesn't repeat.

Agree. Yet they need a Covid plan. Go figure as they say. Sport rules.

Potentially more in hotel transmission in NSW.

This is why I hate the Australian quarantine system. Not only do I have to pay a fortune for the 2 weeks, but also face a much greater risk of contracting the virus than if I stayed put where I am, because of nearby potentially positive travellers. Thankfully next time I come back to Australia I will be fully vaccinated.

So not only serve 14 days in quarantine, paying for the privilege, but now the call for this?
"NSW Health is asking anyone who was quarantined on the 10th floor of the Mercure between April 7 and 12 to get tested and self-isolate until 14 days from the day they left quarantine."

I just don't understand why there isn't more outrage about this. The first few times, maybe they didn't know, but now??? If I went into enforced quarantine and caught COVID there from another guest, I would be infuriated by the incompetence of the whole thing.

Yep, like I said elsewhere on another thread, if the authorities can trust people to do this, after they have exposed healthy people to COVID in quarantine, and they can trust Aussies with COVID acquired here to home quarantine unless they are sick enough for hospital, I really do not understand why people harp on about the unsuitability of home quarantine for travellers.
