Hi all
I have for some time now purchased economy seats with QF and used points to upgrade. I check if upgrade seats are available using expertflyer.com
i just booked flight for 28 March which showed heaps of seats available but have not been able to upgrade. Does anyone know if the systemhas changed or there are issues? There are still a lot of seats available.
any help would be appreciated.
cheers
James

As per the numerous threads on this issue, call QF and provided there is the availability, they will grant the upgrade over the phone. Very simple process from their side.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Did EF show 'U' available, or heaps of J? The upgrade engine has been having issues, especially if you request the upgrade before ticketing occurs, but if EF shows no U, QF won't typically open inventory for you on domestic routes.

You can always set an award seat alarm in EF to advise you if U class becomes available, and then you can upgrade.

Look for classic availability in j by doing a dummy booking on qantas.com if there's seats available then simply call up.

I had a booking where I couldn't upgrade online, but a quick call to qantas and you'll be set for a journey up the front

Definitely came up on EF as U. 7 on one flight and 9 on the other. It's been a few days now so ticket has been issued. I will call QF and see how I go. Thanks for taking the time to respond. Appreciate it.
