Avianca LifeMiles – Bookings and Discussion

Hi all, anyone have an update on the screenshot booking method? I recall vaguely somewhere that said this method of booking is no more, but I just can't find it at the moment.

Screenshot booking is gone unfortunately. Can only book what’s available online and it often doesn’t match other *A websites 😞

I didn't realise screenshots were dead. Is that a hard and fast rule or agent dependent?
I vaguely recall there is a method to do it, via the feedback section? But it sounded complicated. And it’s entirely possible that could also be dead now.

Telephone agents can only see what we see, so no good phoning. The screenshot method needs to get to the specialised LM/award ticketing section.

My sister in law followed this method and was able to get a one way flight to australia booked from YYZ

I can see an itinerary on Thai Airways through Aeroplan from Paris to Hong Kong via Bangkok but it just doesn't show up on Aeroplan (individual legs do, and the connection time is less than 8 hours). Is phoning up a reliable solution? Need to purchase points first given the recent sale, but don't want to buy and then find out that I can't use them!
this is the response I got from emailing Lifemiles

Ah I see. It seems that they can't piece together an itinerary anymore. Will have to wait for an Aeroplan points sale and fingers crossed the award is still there by then!

Need to cancel a LM award. Which is the best number?
but I see that they suggest whatsApp. has anyone tried this?

I tried whatsapp last week for a ticket revalidation and got nowhere.
It's relatively painless though, so no harm in trying.
Called the US number 1866 919 0081.
It took 3 agents, but they sorted it eventually.

Hi all, just wanted to ask a question about 1 passenger "no-showing" on the final leg of a reward booking made for 2 passengers. For example, for a LHR-SIN-SYD for 2 passengers on a single booking, is it possible for one passenger to alight at SIN and "no show" the SIN-SYD leg, while the other passenger still takes the full journey back to SYD?

Sure, just take into consideration baggage though. Better to do that as HLO.

My first Lifemiles redemption this year.

ICN-FRA-VIE in June LH J / OS J
150k miles plus $US170 taxes for two pax.

Been a while since I found decent long haul availability on LM let alone for two pax and something that’s not last minute so quite happy with this one.

What makes it even better is that I got the exact date needed. There were no OW options in J so LM rescued me here. Second best option would have been AF J ICN-CDG-VIE using VS paying significantly more miles and taxes.

Yes, my suspicion from a few searches is that availability is getting slightly better but still less than other FF programs.

I've been getting the dreaded ghost availability on Lifemiles recently - was looking for some flights to get home from Europe and although IST-BKK-PER was looking like it had heaps of availability in J, of course as soon as I bought some more points and went to book, it errored out all over the place.
I emailed support and got the reply that the old support email isn't being monitored anymore, so called support on Skype (the new US number +1 8669190081). They confirmed that all the availability was "ghost", and there was one single economy ticket available.

I did manage to book PER-BKK-IST and PER-BKK-ARN in J on TG for June though. Glad to see there are a few TG flights showing up for Perth now - that used to be my lifemiles staple!

Sorry to hear that.

LM is definitely one of those programs I would *not* buy miles in - or transfer from a credit card - in the hope that they could be redeemed for a particular flight. Other programs yes, ‘see, buy, fly’, but LM is too sketchy, littered with booking errors.

I certainly wasn't planning on it -- I'd been looking to use up the last of my points still hanging around from cancelled 2020 flights, but made the "fatal" error of picking up more points when I saw what looked like the perfect flights home for hubby and me, which at the time were also showing as available on KF etc so I thought they were safe. It's okay though, I used those points up on the outbound flights I mentioned, and have learned my lesson for a bit! :D

Yes, I was hoping that was the case that you’d used the, on the outbound, and the points hadn’t gone to waste!

Alaska Airlines was another program with this problem… they’d show QF first awards, and sometimes JAL first awards, but they were phantom. People got caught transferring points or buying them :(

The main problem with LM however if just being able to get rid of them. With other programs at least you know you’ll be able to use them eventually. I’m stuck with 10k LM that i really don’t know what to do with!
