Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

What happened to the TG flight that leaves Sydney in late pm and gets into Bkk around 320am which caused all the problems for pax connecting to Europe flights??
That is TG472. It's now been retimed back to its sensible afternoon departure that connects with overnight flights westbound.

So all the pax who changed their bookings, but now need not have ....

TG471 BKK0800 – 2000SYD 747 246
TG472 SYD1540 – 2200BKK 747 357

Just wondering about this pairing? Does the plane sit at Sydney for 19h 40min or does it go somehwere else? eg AKl

Correct! They've outdone themselves this time.

Got onto Thai Australia today to rebook my inlaws onto their cancelled then reinstated day flight BKK SYD (this avoiding a 13 hour stop over returning from FCO). Initially she offered a day room at the airport. She was happy to rebook when requested though. Lifemiles / Avianca were not involved in the process. All's well that ends well? Will be watching this booking closely, as there's plenty of time for it to go bad again.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Was initially booked:
25 Sep ZRH-BKK 1330/0530+1
26 Sep BKK-SYD 0725/2000

The BKK-SYD flight has been cancelled for that particular day and I'm now rebooked on the same flight 24 hours later. Wha??

Now to see if I can 1) be rebooked out of another European city as close as possible to the original schedule 2) rebooked on the 1920 departure on 26 Sep with a day room.

You will need to contact Lifemiles to reissue your ticket?

1st call with TG Australia... referred back to Avianca even though TG caused the involuntary schedule change. "This is the way it is with Thai Airways." I would have HUACA'd but not keen to go through another long hold. Asked for a supervisor... transferred to someone's voicemail. :/

Not keen to contact Avianca which would just be a fruitless mission until something is sorted out by Thai, so I'll try again another time.

I imagine Thai's phone lines are jammed due to TAs and pax calling in to sort out involuntary schedule changes.

ETA: Just thought that they may not be willing to touch anything other than POS AU bookings. May try TG in Switzerland or somewhere in Europe tonight....

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Thai's incompetence have really, really pissed me off.

I should send them a bloody invoice for the time wasted on this bull**** saga chasing them given they've now just returned to the original itinerary. I probably wouldn't be that phased if I was based in Sydney but I've just had to spend an additional $800 on flights MEL>SYD to accommodate the bloody change, then TID have knocked the claim back too.

I'm fuming at the moment - sorry for the rant lol

Yep, right royal PIA, but typical unfortunately. Out of interest what did TID say to you?

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

they basically said piss off but their official response (ill only post a snippet):
The benefits provided under Section 6 Travel Delay are limited and the policy wording states:
" If your pre-paid scheduled transport is cancelled, rescheduled or delayed for a reason outside of your control, whether or not caused by a carrier, we will pay you up to $2,000 for a single policy or $4,000 for a family policy as follows:

1. If you are delayed for at least 6 hours, we will pay you up to $200 for each 12 hour period of delay. This benefit is for reimbursement of reasonable additional expenses for accommodation, meals and for transfers directly between transport
terminals and accommodation; and

2. Where you cannot reach your next destination on time, we will pay you toward the cost of your unusable, non-recoverable, pre-paid accommodation, transfers, tours, events and attractions."

As you can see, Section 6 point 1 provides cover for additional meals & accommodation if your scheduled transport is delayed for at least 6 hours.
- Your scheduled flight was NOT delayed by 6 hours, your flight was rescheduled to depart earlier.

Section 6 point 2, states we will pay you toward the cost of your unusable, non-recoverable, pre-paid accommodation, transfers, tours, events and attractions.
- There is No cover for unused/missed flights under Section 6

We hope this clarifies your claim assessment.

Re: US Dividend Miles Buy/Gift Miles 100% bonus - Cheap way for F/J *A Awards

Well our May flight was caught up in schedule changes & we ended up accepting a 7hr wait at BKK. Now our MXP-SYD F flight in July is caught up in the same mess. The "default" solution showing on check my trip is arrive in BKK at 5.55am on 4th July & then BKK-SYD at 08.00 am on 5th July. This would also mean missed flights on from SYD-PQQ on 5th July. Negotiations have been instigated!

I checked Thai last night and noticed I have one E ticket number for SYD -BKK but not for BKK-CDG which was moved to the next day due to Thai schedule change , do I need LM to re issue tickets?

sure - it needs to be either revalidated or reissued by LM and the ticket number needs to be pushed to TG. (no ticket number no travel)

Thanks Will do , the second leg is showing as confirmed on Thai and Check my Trip but better to be safe than sorry

unfortunately 'confirmed' doesn't mean anything without a ticket number. A reservation can be confirmed, allow you to select seats and book the cook or book transfers, but ultimately has no value without payment (a ticket number) and can be cancelled in the absence of such.
