re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

So it looks like, despite the follow up 3x1 promotion being limited to 5,000 miles. You appear to be able to buy 5,000 miles with a 3x1 bonus as many times as you like.

Wasn't aware of this promo, can you post the link?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

IIRC this was sent to you by email if you had already purchased miles in this current promotion.

So if one buys miles in the current 2x1 promo they get an invite to buy extra 5K at 3x1? Is there minimum amount that needs to be purchased to get that email?

Yes this is correct, if you buy miles (not sure of the min amount) you will get a followup email with a 3x1 offer that is capped at a purchase of 5000 miles. I originally thought you could only purchase on this offer once, but it looks like you can take it up as many times as you like in 5000 mile increments, which results in 15,000 miles for $165usd.

I don't have a link unfortunately as it is tied to your account, once you have the offer and logon and click the buy miles button it reflects the deal.

Interesting. Did anyone try buying the minimum amount at 2x1 to see if they get the 3x1 offer?

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

Just bought 2,150 miles for $33. See what happens...

They are saying you have to purchase 15,000 miles pre bonus before you get the 200% offer later in an email.

That's a shame. I've got 16,000 but need to do SGN-BKK-MEL x 2 J so need to grab only another 16,000pts.

re: Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

I can also confirm I have now taken the 3x1 offer 3 times buying a total of 45,000 miles for $495usd. They have all posted to my account.

I am very tempted to buy more as they are super cheap, except I generally don't speculatively buy miles when I have no travel plans in sight.

Before you took up the 3x1 offer how many points did you need to buy beforehand to trigger the offer?

I bought 75,000 as I was redeeming a return J fare for 2 PAX to japan. I did this before the chart devaluation and before it was known that they had this followup offer otherwise I probably would have purchased less and then topped up with the followup offer.

Is it still worth buying points after the devaluation?
