Avianca "Lifemiles" - Questions and Discussion

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

What I don't quite understand is that this "change" (or whatever it is) has sapped out all J availability on MEL/SIN that I can at least see. It's not just 77Ws or A380s, 333s have also been caught in. I checked BNE/SIN random next year, non-peak, all 3 services per day are A333s. ANA shows absolutely zilch in J; of course plentiful in Y.

that's correct - there is NO Sq award space at all supposed to be shown... this is not limited to 77W or A380 anymore - now going to cover all aircraft.

Maybe LM has a special dispensation to allow coach redemptions... OR... a special dispensation recognising that as the call centre can't book anything now showing on line they will still allow coach?

Ummm... I used ANA to search for that SQ Y availability. So if I had some ANA miles I could grab it if I wanted to.

I assume AV LM would have no problems; similarly any other airline in *A.

but who is going to redeem Y? this potentially rules out all premium SQ travel through LM

*shrug* I did redeem a one-way Y in a pinch. Was far cheaper than stumping up the cash fare for one-way, or even purchasing a return and throwing away the second segment.

So shoot me.

Anyway, that's not the point.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Perhaps SQ is adopting a T-14 days policy like LH F class as I can see seats within 14 days. Or it may just be a temporary glitch. No point panicking anyway.

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Yes I notice that anytime after 14 days I cannot see any SQ inventory in J from MEL-SIN, but checked a few random dates for SIN-LHR and found plenty of availability on the day flights. All very odd. Maybe too many AFF'ers were booking flights from Australia-Singapore using life miles?

What about SYD/PER-SIN? Is it all ex-AU or just ex-MEL?

re: Avianca "Life Miles" - New FF program in *A

Even looking on awrdtrvlr I'm not seeing anything so it's not just LM!

Maybe those flights are still playing "catch-up"? Or they've missed something in the system. (I assume by random dates you mean a few months to many out next year)

That's pretty extraordinary, though.

I don't quite buy the "too many AFFers", because as I said I've looked at BNE/SIN which traditionally has so much J availability it's not funny. It's a last minute traveller's dream. Months at a time next year I can't see a single J seat on ANA. Unless you want to travel in Y instead.

What about SYD/PER-SIN? Is it all ex-AU or just ex-MEL?

PER/SIN is the same. Can't see a thing. Just like BNE. I wouldn't be surprised if SYD and ADL are the same - I'm not going to check, I'll just put my money down now.

Some further research on ANA.

I tried TYO/SIN, seems fine. (Availability on this route can be a bit spotty at times; sometimes it's just in the wrong direction!)

KIX/SIN, traditionally also plenty of availability, is perfectly OK. DXB/SIN is alright (as long as you book on the 333, of course).

AKL/SIN is bleak. CHC/SIN, interestingly enough, has some availability, and this is operated with a 772! It's something like a seat per fortnight, however.

IST/SIN has a few going on 772 equipment (for the month of May which I searched on this, I can find some on SQ going in one direction, but absolute nothing on TK!)

I do see SQ C awards with LM .... try SFO-SIN or even SFO-SIN-asia ... you need to specify to search only SQ awards though.

Is this within the next 14 days or months out?

Either way, it seems maybe the system is being rolled out slowly or inconsistently, or both.

We don't even quite know (although could probably veritably guess) whether - AV LM notwithstanding - it's a case of can't see it but actually is there; or can't see it and can't book it at all, viz. blocked (this statement maybe more applicable to other *A systems, rather than AV LM).

Yep I've tried LHR, ZRH, CDG and found various dates (well outside the next 14 days) available on non-stops from SIN. SW pacific seems to be most problematic, but also had difficulty finding anything from SIN to Germany (MUC/FRA).

I've also found MEL-SIN via PEK (CA->SQ) and SYD-SIN via ICN (OZ->SQ). But nothing on direct services other than next 14 days. Will be keen to see if availability comes available on Sat 28 Dec, which is currently showing nothing.

Ok a little experiment around 14 days worked. Before I went to bed last night, there was no J availability for MEL-SIN on Sat 28th. This morning there is, on three flights. Nothing from 29th onwards.

Yes, the "14-day rule" seems very reliable with availability on SQ.

Not the end of the world for us as works well for business travel but not so much leisure.

Could you book Y then change to J/F within 2 weeks of travel?...

Anyone else having issues signing into their account? It keeps telling me that my login info is incorrect. Then I tried to reset my password and it says that the info I entered do not match their records?!

All my bookings are still intact on CMT so I'll try not to panic too much and put this down as another website glitch.
