In the continual tossing around of my existence, does anyone have any experience / stories of what it's like working on the operation side an airline?

After coming across Qantas scrambles: supreme effort in ops room, including pizza, I again randomly stumbled across the Bachelor of Aviation - Management Stream at UNSW and know there are other similar programs elsewhere in the country.

And no, it's not the attraction of the pizza.

This report over at FT makes for some interesting reading on the subject. To be honest I'm not even sure it's the same one I recall reading a few years ago, but it's the only one I could find at short notice. It may entice you, it may dissuade you. :)

Thank you both for sharing.

The United intern has a wonderful writing style.

I return to this thread with a small update. Still pondering another 3 years of uni and grad program (am a little studied out at the moment) for aviation management (though still an interest) but am thinking seriously about going to hotel management - with a focus on Front Desk and a move upwards in due time. I am a qualified chef (so not starting from complete hospitality scratch) and done loads of leadership and customer service things in the recent years. Exploring different masters 1 - 2 year courses.
