Just thought I’d start a thread for this now that a few of us are PC thanks to QF P1.

I’ll kick off.
Tried to book online for FNQ but the location is sold out. One of the benefits is guaranteed vehicle even if sold out.
I called up reservations and after a bit of a hold they made a booking for me.
Received a call from the Manager of the branch later today confirming my booking and that they would look after me.

Will update what happens when I get there. It’s not until July

Following with interest as I also received this benefit. I do not normally use hire cars however have come to the realisation that if our third attempt to get to NZ this year is realised I will most likely need a hire car. I am not fussed about the vehicle class upgrades as I will book what we need, I am keen to know if the ‘guaranteed vehicle’ is honoured. Also as I have not looked at the T’s and C’s is this PC benefit from P1 limited to AU rentals or is global benefit.

I’ve been a PC member for years and apart from minor upgrades haven’t noticed much else. One exception was being able to request a car to be dropped off at my CBD hotel, which I don't think they offer anymore? To be fair I'm no longer a frequent renter. Never needed to use the gauranteed vehicle benefit.

I've just made my first booking as Avis PC (overseas). Anyone know if the advertised "with every booking, we will automatically give you a double upgrade" actually happens? I'm trying to figure out if I can get away with booking a small car, even though I'll be with wife, kids and a fair bit of luggage! I'm guessing that would be a bit risky, but interested to know of others' experiences.

Is the President's Club still only open to QF P1, or has it ever been opened to general members? I'm now hiring cars more than 180 days a year, and hopefully would be a candidate, if only they published qualification requirements!

For some reason Avis can't find my President's Club membership, and it wasn't attached to my old file.

Trying to update profile / licenses is IMPOSSIBLE as well (email in, no response back, wait 30 days).

So my experience keeps me at Hertz

Do you have a second Wizard number?

Otherwise, no saved intro emails or the like? I always keep and file that stuff away in a Travel mail folder.

I just made a placeholder reservation with AVIS (Spain early in the NewYear) and I noticed that my account is now showing “AVIS PRESIDENT'S CLUB” and I have no idea why? 🤷‍♂️.

Pretty sure it was not there before. I did apply a MC “upgrade” coupon but that‘s just supposed to be a rental upgrade (which isn’t always a good thing) and not a status upgrade!

I did have a lot rentals across the US and Europe last year, would that alone trigger it? Ironically, my last few rentals were with Hertz and Sixt and no other AVIS rentals booked for this year!

Were there any other recent promos I may have forgotten about?

No recent promos that I’m aware of.
I have been PC since I started this thread.
It’s a bit hit and miss. Some places automatic double upgrade but quite a few where it’s the car type booked. Not really had any recognition in Europe.
And the USA esp LAX, MCO where it’s still a free for all and pick your own car.

I’ve been Avis Preferred for years and yes, “status recognition” is quite variable.

But I’d often get significant upgrades (especially CBR 🤷‍♂️). Only once, a luxury car upgrade from of all places CPT. What else could highlight potential car jacking victim than a cute white Merc…😳.

The US isn’t a reliable measure. They’ll throw anything at you as an “upgrade” if they’re just trying to pass off a bad penny (like a convertible Camero with a trunk big enough to store a toothbrush and a very carefully folded pair of socks. Not two modest sized suitcase…

Anyway, let’s see what happens if it still sticks come Jan 2025! Or maybe I should just higher something local to see what happens…😁
