Award bookings QF

FWIW, I have recently seen such an indicator (e.g. Y MEL-SYD and J SYD-LAX) when (re)searching for a 2015 Christmas Transpacific Business booking over the last few weeks.

I've seen similar, with J on the domestic and F on the transpac.

On the flip side, I have seen occasions (and it has been documented on here) where the person is after a J award, but the exclamation indicates one leg will be in F.

I don't have a problem with that because J and F are premium cabins and if searching for F, being present with is not such a let down. Searching for J and being presented with whY is just a mickey take.

Not in the rare circumstance (such as that quoted by serfty) that the Y is for a 1 hour flight and J for is for a 13 hour flight. If searching for MEL-LAX in business, it is useful to show options via BNE & SYD even though the domestic flights only have economy available. I think the ! warning, with the additional warning on the booking screen (below quote) is a reasonable compromise.

! Please review the following items:
  • The requested cabin class is full or not available in at least one of the options listed below. (5003 UI)

The other option would be to incorporate some logic around flight durations, but where is the cutoff? If searching PER-AKL and only PER-SYD is available in J, what should be displayed?

I must admit, this is most often seen when searching at 353 days @ ~11:05am in Brisbane.

That is what I have been searching lately.

In relation to points cost, looks like the Terms and Conditions have definitely changed.

Clause 14.4.3 is the relevant one, and IIRC sub-clause (b) has been added.

14.4.3 Where mixed-class travel is booked on a Trip, the Points required for that Trip will be calculated using the lowest quoted Points level of either:
a) the Points level for the highest class of travel flown on that Trip; or
b) the sum of Points, breaking the Trip into multiple Trips wherever the class of travel changes between sectors within a Trip.

Most definitely a change ...

... in fact the change of class modification is to a clause that, IIRC, had not altered for maybe 15 years since the introduction of the "trip" concept.

Brilliant enhancement QFF!

Just did a test run CX CDG-HKG-BNE mixture of F and J - getting ready to do the real thing in a few days :D
