Hello all,

I have 500,000 velocity points and ~ 600,000 amex MRpoints and want to go Singapore for 5 nights with wife and 1 year old.

Options thus far for business class:

krisflyer - 130,000 + $267 taxes + 10% adult fare (~$400)
velocity - 212,000 + $267 taxes (infant free)
united mileage - 100,000 + $267 taxes + 10% adult fare ($400)

2 seats are avaiable.

I have read about a package - Flight and Hotel Packages | Marriott Hotel Packages . Does this solve both problems of flight and hotel bookings?

We need 5 nights in a nice hotel in singapore - will this package be of any benefit or should I book flights and hotels separately?

Hope someone who may have been in a similar situation can shed some light on the best use of the points!

Which city are you flying from? Your velocity quote of 210,000 points doesn’t sound right? MEL-SIN return for 1 adult in business on SQ is 130,000 velocity points booked through velocity. Taxes sound high too.

And your numbers for booking through SQ don’t look right either. It should be 116,000 SQ points for 1 adult business class return, again taxes sound high. This would cost you 156,600 velocity points of transferred from them, but you said you have AMEX MR so could use those at 1:1 I think.

Unless you are quoting for 2 adults? But the numbers should be double the above then.

Yep 2 adults

It is from Perth to Singapore (we are now actually going to Kuala Lumpur which is the same points anyway.

So either Infant free and 212,000 velocity points or 130,000 krisflyer plus 10% business class ticket for infant

Thought up a solution - buy 1 ticket through krisflyer - 65000 points, and one through velocity (+ free infant) 110,000 velocity.

Velocity should be 106,000 return in business on SQ?

This one looks much more value through SQ. I would book through SQ and pay the infant fee. I’d value 41000 points more than $400.
