Look up the term "external validity" for an understanding of the concept.

LOL.

More of a molehill than a mountain to me, so happy to bow out. Sorry that michaelj didn’t strike it lucky.

I still don't see a problem with what I said based on my own experience. Saying after the fact that something that was never a sure thing "wasn't true" seems a little disingenuous to me.
That's the issue. You don't know what the chance was or is, whether it be decent or not. That's what is not true.
If you had access to sensitive company information, it would be foolish to talk about it - and that's the only way to know.

What you believe to be true and what is true are two different things, especially in this case.

The only person to benefit is you, because you have the opportunity to learn from your mistake and hopefully if you are able to learn, will understand why making a false statement is not a good thing.
Not saying you intended to be dishonest, but that's the outcome.
No judgement.

You do realize that your entire argument hinges on you pulling rank and claiming that you have superior knowledge as to what the respective probabilities are?

If you'd told me before one of my flights that I wouldn't get points and then I did, I wouldn't see cause to call you "dishonest". You are quite frankly overreacting, the "based on my own experience" inherent in what I was saying could have been taken as given.

No, your statement is wrong.
After all - you were the one to first proclaim "decent chance" when you simply didn't know.
It doesn't make business sense for them to do what you suggested. In light of the possible times of them making a mistake, Qantas is profitable (I don't know if you were aware of that).

No overreaction, regardless of your misinterpretation.
Never called you dishonest either.
Nothing against you as a person.

It would be a shame if someone read your post and honestly thought it was accurate.

You can retract your statement, but there's been no sign of you admitting to do such a thing.

I had similar experience where I booked my parents to fly to HKG from SYD via BNE, the BNE to HKG flight was somehow rescheduled 60 minutes earlier which means their SYD to BNE flight wouldnt connect. I called to move the SYD/BNE leg forward and was surprised when Qantas offered to book them on QF127 and created 2 U class seats for them.

Probably wading into this one a tad late, "but":

I cannot add to evidence of changed award flights suddenly getting points, but what I can say from very direct personal experience is that IRROPS changes can have an outcome that I would think doesn't make "business sense" for QF. A couple of years ago whilst plying the SCL-SYD route very frequently I went through a phase of buying tickets via Latam codeshares, which obviously have a much reduced SC etc earning compared to the same flights purchased via QF. In that period I sufferred about a dozen changes to flights, and in about half of those cases I ended up with a "QF" ticket/SC earning. Every time I enjoyed that bonus :)

This happened to me 2 years ago but with velocity. I had a Melbourne- Auh- Muscat flight booked with points with Etihad and Etihad changed the flight which didn’t have a good connection. We didn’t accept it and they let us leave a day earlier and re issued an e-Ticket. And bam we got SC and points and that ticket was re-issued about 3 months before we left! I wouldn’t of jet gold if it wasn’t for that😝🤭
