Hmmm... AY award charts are *really* expensive in terms of points costs AY metal sort of ok... but once you start involving partners AY's charts blow even QF out of the water.

Evidently calling through to the Gold/Plat line gives you more options/availability than online.Am I missing something with AY's availability tool? I have zero points which may be limiting results? But for example, pick JFK-LHR on 5 April and AY's engine returns limited results, and only in coach. AA/AS/QF all return bucket loads of BA/AA/IB flights.

Yeah... it's a mixed bag. Some awards are actually very good value, while others (e.g. CMB-DEL on SriLankan Airlines in J for 250,000 points round-trip - WTF, it's a ~3 hour flight!) are terrible value. There are some sweet spots though..

Conversely, QR909 is available online at AY however not on QF (18 Aug)

I'm thinking about doing this for flights to Europe later in the year - but it seems a bit like pot luck if there will be any availability. Any idea if it will be possible to get J?Evidently calling through to the Gold/Plat line gives you more options/availability than online.

Agree. Nobody is suggesting this promo is for everyone.
However if you and a friend/colleague were looking at purchasing say, QC for 2 years through AFF, there's half the cost of this promo already covered as you get Plat and an additional Gold to gift for 2 years. Then you get 250k points to spend on Domestic travel. So if you get more than $2k worth of flights you're at least even.
250k points for $2k spend. Different value proposition for some.

I've seen a few reports of this happening. Might be a case of dodgy IT working in your favour for once!.I just purchased and got my platinum straight away , looks like you don't need to convert 3:1 for additional tier miles , so I still have 400,000 points to redeem.
yeah there is only up to 40 000 Tier points on the menu.Exchange Avios to tier points
If you need some extra tier points to stay in your current Finnair Plus membership tier or if you want to move up to the next tier, you can exchange 3 Avios forwww.finnairshop.com
thanks ) got it
Any idea on how to get the glitch to happen in my favour? Looking to pick this up tomorrow maybe... if the boss signs off.I've seen a few reports of this happening. Might be a case of dodgy IT working in your favour for once!.
