Follow the link above for current starting price (other TAs can book / quote these fares also). For those of us with OW status, the “classic” fare is very good value.

No I just booked one
Out of curiosity, what sort of itinerary/price/time of year did you get?

Pondering if I can use this to get to the US Sep/Oct and just tack on another side trip to Europe - noting the complete lack of decent J fares pretty much anywhere now thru to New Year… 😳.

They start from a little over $6k now to average $8-9k, year round.

Yes, you can go to the US using these then do a side trip to Europe. You can save thousands doing this.

Ideally I'd like to use this fare with USA to Europe, the Dubai (or nearby) and back to Australia (via Asia if needed), anyone know if this is possible?

I don't think Dubai is possible as a stopover with this fare.

You could perhaps fly Australia-USA-Europe, do a side-trip from Europe to DXB and back, then return Europe-Asia-Australia using the other half of the RTW fare. (As far as I can tell, the closest places to DXB that you could stop over in Europe which are allowed on the AY fare would be DBV, BUD, SPU, NAP or FCO.)

Another possibility could be to fly back via DEL as the Asian stopover (Finnair flies there). You could then use Qantas points to fly EK from DEL-DXB (which is "only" 1,360 miles or a ~3 hour flight), then use Qantas DEL-MEL for the final leg.

Update @BensAdventures - including DXB in one of these Finnair fares is now *partially* possible. See:

You could now book with the Finnair fare (for example):

MEL-LAX on Qantas
LAX-HEL-FCO on Finnair
[Surface sector from Rome to Dubai]
DXB-HEL on Finnair
HEL-BKK on Finnair
BKK-SYD-MEL on Qantas

A bit OT. Daughter wanting to get home from New York. Will be home a month then return to Europe. I was thinking, not the most direct route but positions her in Europe for a return fare, was to fly to HEL then a return to SYD. Thoughts from the brains trust, @madrooster ?

You can fly transpac on QF on an AY fare.

Yeah that's kinda workable...

Have been in contact with Roundabout travel re AY for Apr next year. Quoted fares substantially higher than advertised lead in fares. Not sure whether this relates to time of year etc. May look into Lufthansa group options having listened to the podcast (had just leant to AY initially as OW)
