Hi all

I’m having a frustrating experience with the seat selection for a short-haul BA Euro Traveller booking.

As OWE I get free seat selection at booking, including exit row.

However the seats have dropped off three times now despite no change in aircraft, seat map or change in where the curtain is.

There’s no notification, I have had to set up expert flyer alerts.

Other seats around us seem to remain (although they may just be quicker in re-selecting their seats).

Anyone familiar with BA got any idea what causes this and any ideas on how to avoid it? i.e. should i choose non-exit row seats?

Thanks
m

There's an issue with the BA seating server at the moment.
I saw something on FT referring to an issue but I have a flight on Friday that seems to have stuck (booked months ago).

This just prompted me to check again and it allowed me to move forward a row. Woopie! 😂

Thanks. That’s informative.

I’ll just add, been booted from the seats again. Other seats are still marked as occupied in expertflyer … feeling a bit singled out at this point.

Is your QFF# (including leading zero(s)) entered correctly?

Another obvious thing is to not be logged in if you also have a BA account with no status.

Hmmm perhaps not. How many leading zeros are needed?

I mean it recognises my status and entitlement to free seat selection. I get an confirmation email from BA. At first the seats stuck for a few months. Now they drop out every second day it seems.

Six digit FF# I always add the leading single “0” eg 0xx_xx_

Does it show your status or just not trying to charge for seat selection?

Maybe it is an issue with BA but only some routes? 🤷‍♂️

The suggestion earlier about selecting clear seats as shown on EF could be a good idea for now. See if they stick.

Selecting the seats via RJ has proved to be good advice. Seats which dropped off every day have now stuck for two days once selected via RJ.

I believe the issue has been resolved now, so it wouldn't have mattered which site you use to select the seat.
