BA Changes Tier point Collection date from April 2025

I read this and thought about the pain (somewhat self-inflicted!) that QF Loyalty went through in managing all the status extensions and support through the pandemic. A single membership year end would have made that ordeal much simpler and fairer (for real!), though we'd also likely have seen the support end sooner if they could have done that without members in the various end-date camps arching up. I wouldn't be surprised if more move to a fixed membership year model. Hotel loyalty is majority/all(?) annual on calendar years and no-one seems to mind there.

So I have a December end of year. I will get back to Gold in May. Which means instead of lasting until December 2005 it will last until 31/3/26.

You would ordinarily have gold until 31/01/2026 if the changes weren't happenng. You will still get at least that, if not end of April 2026.

Does this new change they can revalue awards faster knowing that one group is not disadvantaged

As someone who has a year end of Jan 8, essentially what I'm earning between now and April 1 this year doesn't help much. Well, it helps for getting my 1500 between now and Jan 8 2025, to qualify for Gold for another year but in order to qualify for the next period I essentially need to earn 1500 between 1 April 2024 and the end of March 2025.

I'm just sitting here thinking about all those wasted TPs (sort of) I'm flying in the next 7 weeks. Oh well, at least it is only 345.

I’ve got a December date so let’s just see how it goes. I’ve got flights booked in the next 8 weeks worth just over 400 TP’s and then the remainder of the year should be a doozie with the flights booked. I’m willing to give it a chance and see how it goes

I am in the same boat.* About 300TP before 1 April this year even though I have qualified for GGL already. 25TP between 1 April and July 8, my year end. So I need nearly 3000TP between July 8 and 1 April 2025. Good thing I have just booked a 2300 TP trip in September. Might have to start looking for some quick trips with BA to get the other 700 - and the 4 BA flights!

*Ok, I didn't mean that, but I will take the credit!

On the plus side, I have 1500+ TP worth of flights between 1APR24 and 1APR25
However, none are BA metal/code... need to find time to go to Europe to take those 4 BA/IB flights
I really hope BA doesn't decide to go revenue TP-earn... I still have 34k+ TP to go for LTG 😅

Going to a £/TP is highly likely it seems.

Don't forget you can get the 4x BA flights by flying QF on a BA codeshare to SIN. E.g. MEL-SYD-SIN return will do it.

Yes, general feel is that come April 2026 there will be a revenue requirement to earn status with BAEC.

In any case, I'm HKG based now so don't have access to that particular 5th freedom flight, but that's useful information if I ever return to MEL

This whole "credit to BA" endeavour might end up as a mistake, but I think given the information at the time (July 23, so pre-avios earn changes) I made the best decision. Looks like it was too good to last; but I do wonder what happens if CX/QF + other oneworld carriers don't adopt the earn based status/points -- would there be an opportunity there?

Well maybe QF at least should.leave OW and join their buddies at EK and skywards or whatever it's called. I'm not really sure why QF are in OW tobe honest. Most will fall in line with the dates and also the use of AVIOS as being the currency.
