BA Executive Club change to spend-based status earning

Looks like BA has backtracked a little - Bronze Status can now be earned with 25 flights and silver with 50 which may give some satisfaction to the regular short haul flyer. Also the bonus tier points offer for flights before 14th Feb has ben extended to 31st Dec.

Reported in The Times today.

I suspect this will not satisfy the vast majority of BA FF's.
Lipstick on a pig if you ask me. But, eventually, I think they will get the message (to a greater extent than now).

BA clearly want to play a longer game of wait and see. The 50 flights to silver path will appease the short haul Europe regulars who aren't chasing Gold. I'm in two minds about what will happen I have a sneaky suspicion that financially it may be positive for BA as they seek to change the profile of their frequent flyers.

We have to hope this move fails because other airlines including QF will be watching closely.
