TBH, what difference does the notification make? We know they've been cancelled. If someone is smart enough and quick enough to find the window and pounce on the fares when they come up, they'll equally be smart enough and quick enough to know when they've been cancelled, notification or not.
If you are unsure, you can always call BA.
Personally I think it's very important.
I got in on all three rounds of the Yangon alleged mistake fares. On one itinerary it took Iberia (the ticketing carrier) six weeks to cancel. I said then - and I stand by it now - I have no issue with mistakes being made and if the airline is to fix it up within 48 hours (possibly 72 at the outside) then I'm good with that (provided, of course, I'm not out of pocket). But to not even have the decency to send a mass email? And to not void the hold on the credit card but instead let the charge go through? Well now BA, on the face of it, has stolen my money.
Maybe the behaviour of a LCC but not one like BA.
