You could possibly have someone else do it for you. Perhaps give the instructions to Mrs Straitman to do the OLCI at the T-24 mark for you.

NM,
Thanks. To clarify a little. I was referring to booking and Dave Noble commenting that it's preferable to booking to the same reservation. ie one of our tickets is 'D' class and the other 'U' class. BA have actually allocated me 63K which to my way of thinking is a good seat. Just hope I don't have to give it up for the sake of domestic peace :!:

Problem solved - just rang up QF - she wasn't sure if it would work but it did - so we're all good.

Again she said she can't do Jetstar. I wonder if I call JQ if they will do it? I've done it before when I was booked on a JQ flight by Qantas - but that had a JQ number, not a QF number.

justinbrett,

Sorry if I've highjacked your thread a little here.

It's all good!

Mind you - just looked on seatguru and the seat I selected (14A/B) is the row without a window! doh!

I'll fix it later.

Ahh, makes sense. I thought you were saying that using OLCI was going to be difficult at T-24 as may be the case for some of us when travelling.

Actually T-24 (exactly) could be a little difficult as the flight is ex HKG at 0110 and I probably won't have computer access or be awake at that time the night before.

14A is one of the nicest seats ( if it is a 747 ). If you don't have the appropriate status, don't be surprised if you lose the allocation though

No, it's a 757.

We've got 72A/B on the QF 747. Agent recommended it and seatguru has it as a 'good seat'.

Will be gold in a month - wasn't concerned abou losing the allocation (should I be?)

Hmm - still not sure why I cant select a seat on line for my BA flights. I have a D ticket and am OW Sapphire - but none of my BA seats are available to preselect... guess i had better call BA on MOnday..

Yep, a call to BA would be in order.

Make sure they have your Sapphire AA FF number in the booking/segment.

ABout a year ago I was after 14A on a BA 747 but it was not available via MMB as it was a bassinet position. A call to BA and a request was put in; it came through very quickly.

... I know the JQ flight I'm on (DRW - SIN) can't be preselcted even though it has a QF number - but if we booked on JQ direct we could have selected seats.
Call Jet

on 131 538 adivse your flight details and they should be able to allocate a seat for you; at the same time, get THEIR booking reference and you may be able to check your booking on line using this.

Tried that, and the result was not good.

First of all - he couldn't find my booking with the reference I had. I told him that was the reference from Qantas - he said "ok, that won't work. I can't help you, you'll have to call Qantas and see if they can allocate the seats".

He was about to hang up on me when I asked if he could locate my booking with my name and flight details - to which he responded "yes, I can". At this point I'm thinking I know more about his job than he does, and gave up any hope of this working.

He found me and gave me a reference (didn't write it down - but from experience it won't let you log in if you didn't book it with Jetstar. Have tried it before).

Got to the point where he asked what seats I want - 1A and B were available - but then he said he couldn't assign them (system wouldn't let him).

I suggested maybe because I was booked on a QF flight number - and he agreed.

Then I asked him about the cabin service to expect as a QF codeshare - he said - "I don't know, but I doubt you'll get any special treatment. You'll get the same service as everyone else".

I responded with "well, they don't tell you guys much, do they?" and then he said goodbye and hung up.

I did a web search and it says we get free meals and free bar service, with bags checked through to LHR.

Bloody useless. And they wonder why people don't like Jetstar.

While we're on the topic, I managed to log into the AA site and assign the seats for the AA flights

 What the, I didn't know we could do that, I had read all about the BA MMB, and the phone calls to QF, but had laways assumed I was in lottery for AA. After reading this I was able to choose the seats I wanted using the AA site. Its amazing I thought I had it all down pat, anyway thanks for the heads up justinbrett, no more coughpy left over seats for me on AA anymore. :D

as long as there is availability you can always select seats on AA

which is why so many americans find it so annoying to encounter QF's seat allocation system for domestic

I cant believe for all the years I lurked, then been a member the last year I didn't know of the AA seating selection. Instead I always sat on the plane stewing on my bad seat.

Reggie,

You can leave the stewing (and the bad seats) for someone else now.
