Maybe l should have been a little bit clearer.
On the repositioning for a NAN J Run, l did SYD-BNE and vv a day later. One was a 7:30pm SYD-BNE the other was a 8pm BNE-SYD. One had hot meal + drinks and the other had a muffin or fruit to choose from. Cost of flights and plane used was the same each way. Now that's a pretty big discrepancy in my books.

Yeah, I can see what you are saying. I guess Qantas tries to fit it their meal service with the time of the day the flight is scheduled for. 6-8pm is roughly dinner time, so flights that depart between 1800-1959 will be served dinner. I can understand the discrepancy between the two flights, but on such short, high frequency flights, it is more important to time the meal/refreshment to the time of the day. This is the same for Business. The offering could be a full meal type dish compared to a light antipasto plate or soup.

To me, the meals in whY are decent enough for a PER-SYD flight. AVOD is pretty much on every flight now too.

I haven't flown to PER since last year, but there was no AVOD.. I'll see at the end of the year!

I voted for bonus points as most other choices did not appeal to me.

Most flights I take now have AVOD and are either SkyBedI or new style seating and I would hate to get Dreamtime back.

Onboard catering is fine and the last few meals I have had have been fine.

I don't see how F lounging could be acheived as that would mean going to the Int terminal in Sydney and that is simply not going to happen and the J lounges are fine IMHO.

I would like to see a J Lounge in PER but I don't see the room there so I doubt it will happen as they would have done it at the same time as the new lounge and new CL.

More and more A330's are now on the Transcon runs these days.

Out of the 8 direct PER-SYD flights tomorrow, 4 will be an Airbus A330 that have AVOD. 50/50 nlagalle, toss a coin.

QF568 00:05 Airbus 330 AVOD
QF574 05:45 Boeing 767 No AVOD
QF572 07:05 Boeing 737 No AVOD
QF576 08:05 Boeing 737 No AVOD
QF642 10:10 Boeing 767 No AVOD
QF580 12:25 Airbus 330 AVOD
QF582 14:30 Airbus 330 AVOD

I agree with you ejb. Somehow putting in an FLounge departure would be unrealistic, but then again, the other choices didn't appeal to me either. 'meh...

And from the centre around to the other side of (/above), QF will probably want to fortify its premium high ground, using (hard & soft) product quality initiatives & loyalty bonuses, but not reducing its position with significant price discounting.

My guess is that the Qantas response will firstly be a wait and see what the product is. I am not sure that there is a great need to modify the product without seeing what your competitor brings. The response I see, may not be discounting per se, but they may have more of the business saver fares on offer. That is, we may well see more D fares on the sectors.

Ahh last flight I had on the A330 a few weeks back was EBJ, which has no AVOD.. I see they have now updated them.

Anticipating this in advance, do you think that there is a better way to launch an attack on said market segments, that could take account of QFs past behaviour?

You are still playing chicken, as EBJ does fly between PER-SYD, so not entirely 50/50;)
