Atfter many years of flying QF J. My family and I decided to jump ships to the 'new' VA. We flew CNS-BNE-MEL in PE with J seat earlier in the week and we were all very impressed.

Today came the MEL-CBR (DJ267) leg of our Journey booked in PE. Firstly the seatmap was showing a refit A/C. This was good news. After checking in we were advised we would be th only people in the J cabin (5pax). The Lounge was supurb with many staff on deck. We where sitting above our gate and to my shock a 73W pulled in! I was disapointed, then the thought of live2air cheered me up and so did the thought of a vegtable pie and a juice. When we boarded not only was it the old PE seats but there was no live2air and the cabin had cloth seats and was very dirty! the cabin manager was very rude and a cough. Then after paying for PE we where given Y food and no choice of drinks! Just juice or water. What is wrong with VA! Does anybody know who I contact to make a complaint?

Thanks Brad :p:p:p

Yes you contact Guest Services. Number on the website. Unfortunately you got the one truly terrible aircaft they have. I didnt know it was still flying. Well, there you go. Now with regards to the food, MEL, SYD BNE - CBR are all part of a new service DJ rcenly introduced. There is no menu choice, its full service but they are only loaded set meal trays. The regular stuff you see on other flights isnt available because its not loaded.

Um.....coud you elaborate cough for us pls?

cough - Boarding. We walked down the priority line as we are entitled to and were told to go to economy line which we did (she was embarased) My sister and I were seated next to eachother on the bulkhead and where waiting until the plane boarded to put our bags in the overhead. she said you have to do it know before everyone is onboard (new policy? I dont think so) we were playing a game while taxing and she said "do you want to know why its bumpy?" we said no as we new it was the lights, she gave us a lecture in a coughy tone. she did this when we where pulling into the gate and gave us a lecture... why? I have know Idea... and her attitude was generally bad, she treated us like we have never flown... we travel frequently... On my itenerary in T&C's It does not state that its capital connet so faulse advertising?

And ask for a refund whilst you are at it. Airlines sometimes seem to think that because you accept the Contract of Carriage they can be rude to you, pour a coke on your head and feed you dog food. Legally maybe they can but Virgin are trying hard to win over QF elites. Give it a test and ask for the money or at least flight vouchers.

Hahahaha!! You had VB Spewy (VH-VBU) the only 737-700 with no live2air and the only plane in the entire fleet with cloth seats. It is nearly 11 years old, should be gone soon - i hope. But due to operational requirements and other factors, you got it. You get what your given, tough luck.

Better luck next time!

A refund? Seriously? If a refund for a bad CS applied to every business, there would be no business!

Yeah, heh, or possibly business would lift its game?

Pretty hard to measure a subjective experience I guess, but its not all that important if an individual is right or wrong, the airline would be checking the numbers and if complaints start rising against a particular crew or across the board then you'd think they'd pay attention before going broke.

If no-one complains then all must be good eh? I'd complain and ask for a refund too, because it sounds like a multiplicity of failures when measured against a reasonable expectation for J class / PE class travel, not just one.

Geez imagine if this happened on QF??

On a serious note of the 4 VA flights I've done in the last 2 months I couldn't fault the attitude of the FA's.

Id be complaining on it for sure. Should have had a drinks choice for sure. I have in PE

I think you have every right to be disappointed - I would be if I were in your shoes. The PE food service is generally Y food, but you should definitely have had a choice of beverage (I think? Unless something has changed? Does MEL-CBR have a different service standard?)

The FAs attitude sounds entirely unlike the norm, so you should write them some feedback about it (though perhaps not by saying she was a "cough", more perhaps that she spoke down to you.. be specific and use non-emotional language). I would also mention the priority boarding; if you were ticketed in PE, you were entitled to use it.

I don't think asking for a refund is necessarily appropriate, but why don't you write in and see if you're offered anything?

I travelled Capital connect on a 737 MEL-CBR in PE in October and received different (more substantial) catering from those down the back. Also had alcohol options such as wine and beer.

Has this changed since than?

I know it's irrelevant, however, what was the difference in fare from flex to PE ?
maybe a. Credit to that value would be fair. I thought Pe was dropped from these flights recently.
I also think that having a go at the FA who may simply have misunderstood your comments re bumps, is a bit unfair. She may have genuinely thought you were concerned. She wouldn't know, nor care how much of a jet setter you are.
i think there are two sides here, and if you genuinely have a grievance then complain, but if it was mearly not gelling with the FA then leave it.
respect and courtesy is a two way street

Definitely complain. The priority boarding alone is worth sending in feedback. Maybe some system failure somehow made the CS think you were in Y. Not saying the treatment was acceptable for Y. But that could explain a few things you describe. So feedback might find some problem and will at least draw attention to the CS.

As for compo, I'm of the don't ask school and generally something good is offered.

Uh brad ... maybe you should learn to spell !!!

Why? Communication 101, make yourself understood. It was understandable.

Sent from my iPhone using Aust Freq Fly app so please excuse the lack of links.

I believe it has. Its now the same as syd-cbr. Everyone gets a set thing, although PE get a different set thing to Y.

I did CBR-SYD the same weekend - same service as MEL-CBR - with a 'different set thing' but we did get offered drinks (Wine/beer etc.)

Has the beverage service for PE on these flights been canned (as the OP's post might indicate).

Maybe because any communication that contains as many grammatical and spelling errors as the OP's message might not be taken as seriously as it perhaps should. Despite the message being understandable (just) its point could be missed in the tangle of tortured language!

What time if day were you flying? I believe the drink offering differs between morning and afternoon.
