Bag drop at HKG

With In-Town check in still closed for Qantas in Hong Kong, has anyone had any recent experience with using the HKIA bag drop facilities at the airport on a Qantas flight before the QF check in desks open?

Airport Facilities and Services For passengers who have checked in and obtained their boarding passes, they can print bag tags and check their baggage on their own with the self bag drop facilities.

The HKIA doesn’t seem to restrict the opening hours/airline, just as long as you have a boarding pass.

We’re flying out on QF30 and will have a few hours to kill after checking out of the hotel, so was hoping to do an extended CX lounge hop prior.

If anyone can shed some recent experience, that would be grand!

I was there on 2 June (Sunday) at 11am
and there was only one single counter open for CX manned by 1 CX staff.

It definitely does not look like they accept other airlines. There is still the big TV before you go through the gates for check-in and basically it showed “check-in at airport” for any flights other than CX.
