Maybe, but there are some special occasions this year. Your daughter only turns 16 once (we did the same thing for our son), and 25 years of marriage is something to celebrate (actual going out years is 33) .... I've only just had my 51st birthday:eek: All these things are worth celebrating! Otherwise what's the point?

Completely agree. Plus if travel is your thing, then do it! That's how I feel. We don't drive a fancy car or have lots of fancy things, I would much prefer to spend our money on a holiday than a piece of jewellery. I would much prefer to spend our money on experiences rather than things. But as I read on another thread here, you do you.

We celebrated our 40th Wedding anniversary last year in Paris at The Lido. Unforgettable. Husband just wanted to go to Paris to celebrate it. His parents were married for just 25 years when his father passed away from Leukemia shortly after. So celebrate away!

Sweet 16 - mmm. My kids both boys were not sweet at 16 and going away with mum and dad would not be their ideal way of celebrating it. Luckily they grew up and now treasure the family travels but between the ages of 16 and 20 they’d rather be with their mates.

Not my daughter she’s hanging on with total determination ;) Next milestone is graduating high school ... she has already successfully negotiated and traded Schoolies for a trip with Mum to NYC. Her choice - I don’t mind if she attends schoolies .... but at this point in time it’s NYC via Singapore suites. She’s a long term thinker, and a future AFFer!
