Been reading about the potential for VA to give their flights to Tiger.

Anyone have insight as to when this will happen and what of those who have bookings already?

Interested in this too as I'd like to use my points for tickets to Bali in 2017.

Well if it was me, there would be lots of crying and wondering why God hates me so much.

Do Tiger have J class?

This wouldn't be that big of a loss IMO. 6-7 hours on a 737 was torture. Unless you're flying J no amount of service can hide the fact that you're in a domestic configured plane. If they won't use their A330's they may as well give the route to Tiger.

Travel credit probably. Although the article I've read mentions only some not all services so you may be, er, "lucky".

Tiger can only make ADL/PER direct on the A320. So I'd expect these to be taken off them. The rest can be done when the A320Neo comes online.

They can't make SYD/MEL/BNE direct. They would need another 5 odd aircraft too.

Virgin Australia will continue to fly to Denpasar from Sydney, Brisbane and Port Hedland. Wonder if that will continue into April 2017 when we intend going using Velocity points.

Its interesting some survive and some don't.

I assume PHE is just an aircraft utilisation thing (along with FIFO type demand with FIFOs living in DPS.

The B737 Tigerair flights will be in Tiger Livery, operated by Tiger Crew with Tiger inflight service, but flown by Virgin Australia Pilots. SYD/BNE/PHE - DPS are remaining as Virgin Australia operated due to a different market that allows for a full service flight. :)

Will be interesting to see what will become of the remaining routes though!

BNE: Only both JQ and VA left, GA axed the route recently citing the route was loss making for the airline, so VA could stick around due to limited competition on the route with a less aggressive JQ at only x5 weekly compared to MEL (9 weekly), PER (19 weekly). However things could change if XT launches its own services, VA could be down to daily services.

SYD: This market will get hotter once XT moves in later this year, like MEL, with XT, JQ, GA and VA that makes 4 airlines plying the route. Yields would probably drop due to extra capacity being added by XT, which could spark oversupply, VA could also be forced to go down to daily services.

PHE: Relatively no change

PER is currently the strongest destination to DPS, followed by MEL, these 2 face the most competition so it makes sense to hand these routes to TT for now. It's also interesting to note that a TT configured aircraft with all Y seating may further restrict the capabilities of the 73H, SYD and BNE being further away, may have also impacted the decision not to yet palm these routes over to TT, the aircraft already struggles as it is in VA's configuration.

Don't worry even if VA starts dropping those routes too you should be able to use your VFF points on Tiger

Fares from mel - dps are around the $250 return on sale at the moment with Jetstar and tiger who are having a sale for the same dates. So booking with QF points and paying the charges would mostly cost more than sale price. Not sure about Virgin taxes and fees.
