Bamboo Airways will start non-stop flights from Melbourne to Ho Chi Minh City from April 2022. Initially there will be 2x Boeing 787 flights per week, eventually increasing to four weekly flights. Melbourne-Hanoi flights will also be added.

We'll, we have huge Vietnamese communities here so direct flights make sense. Not sure how they'll go in a pandemic but good luck to 'em!

That would now enable the Jetstar price beat to kickoff as I’m pretty sure JQ fly the route also.

Yeah I think JQ are (or will be) flying the route 4x weekly. Pricebeat will of course be available but only the days that they are both serving the route ,

From what I can tell, Bamboo Airways is a much nicer airline than Jetstar. Not sure why you would want to use a Price Beat? :p
Whilst only being a 3 star airline their J product looks comfortable enough and I’ll be interested to see the prices and whether they are competitive with VN to try them out

Given that Vietnam currently has a DFAT 'Reconsider your need to travel' warning, I hope those who are considering booking have this in mind...

Many nations have that. If we based travel on what bureaucrats say, we'd eliminate a lot of possible destinations.

Then again, thanks to health tsars, that's already happened...

I agree, but how would you stand with your travel insurance if you booked a trip today with that DFAT warning in place, and the worst happened and further restrictions were put on travel?

The majority of insurances (that I've ever looked at) only care about "Do not travel". So you would be fine, but of course, read your own PDS.

Appears QH have a drip pricing strategy.
Eg “$180” fare SYD-HAN in Oct 2023 almost doubled by mandatory fees, taxes and charges.

I am fairly sure that is in breach of AU laws. Can be done in other countries but not here.

The manor shareholder of Bamboo has recently changed as well.
FLC Group has sold out after its a chairman was jailed for market manipulation.
Him Lam JLC (another real estate company) now the major shareholder.

Tha major shareholder of VietJet Sovico is also facing financial issues putting pressure on avietJets share price.

So it's fun times all around in Vietnam

QH discontinues flights between HAN and MEL:

TBH, they’d better off flying to DaNang or Nha Trang. Plenty of opportunity targeting those who want a tropical holiday but not interested in Bali or coughet.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.
