My wife and I are currently in Europe and return to Australia mid-next week via a 24 hour stopover in Bangkok. Unfortunately she has back problems and may need drugs to help with pain from the long haul flights. However, her tablets are banned in Thailand without a long and complicated process of doctors letters and permits etc that we ran out of time to arrange.

We got around a similar prohibition in Singapore by using the Flight side baggage storage at Changi on our way to Europe. That way we didn't take the tablets into Singapore and risk nasty penalties. I have checked the Bangkok airport web site, and there is baggage storage at the airport, but I can't tell which side of customs it is because if We have to declare them, I expect that they will be confiscated and not available in case she needs them on the BKK-SYD leg.

Does anyone know which side of immigration and customs the baggage storage at Bangkok is?

I have also used the one outside the customs area and can't say I have seen luggage storage inside (maybe because I have not been looking...)

There is definitely luggage storage landside (ie outside of immigration). If there is baggage storage inside immigration, I am guessing it would be on departures level. As arrivals and departures are separated at BKK you would need to do transfer first (if allowed) to get to departures level and from there not sure how you get out of the airport (ie what I am saying is that it would be complicated).

There is Chubb luggage storage both at departures and arrivals levels landside.

I have never seen anything airside but if this medication is so important then perhaps you need to risk taking it with you to hotel or use the Louis Tavern transit hotel which I believe is airside.
