Bangkok Hotels

Now I am looking at Metropolitan by COMO (where Nahm is), Banyan Tree nearby or VIE by MGallery. All around $150 a night which is ok, Banyan about $200. Am I wasting my money going to one of these or should I go to the Pullman for $120 or something like Novotel? Want to be downtown somewhere (but location not a big issue).

Any recommendations?
Holiday Inn Sukhumvit for ~AUD120/night and if you are Platinum includes lounge access.

Pullman Bangkok G is a wonderful hotel (old Sofitel) and can often get club rooms around $160-$170. About a 5-10 min walk to Chong Nonsi BTS.
Stayed at Le Meridien Bangkok last month - stunning hotel - around $160 for room only, $200 including breakfast and evening drinks/canapés. Best breakfast I have ever had in Thailand and wonderful service.
Have stayed at Banyan Tree before too (3 years ago) - rooms were quite dated, may have been updated now.

Love the Peninsula - just booked another 4 nights for early January. Can't beat life on the river!

Shangri-la Bangkok is property worthy of consideration. Club lounge is great, gym is more than adequate and rooms are very comfortable. There are 2 pools you can choose from and the location is very handy (on the river). I will be there for a few nights first week of July.

Anyone stayed at Nasa Vegas before? Looking at it for a 1 and a half night stopover (flight departure at 02:00)

its 'cheap and dirty', but considering it because Ramkhanghang BTS stairs are right at the front door - if they were any closer they would be inside the hotel. I like that because I carry around a golf bag with me and it gets awkward sometimes. For that reason I am not interested in going further into town, nor changing lines at Ratchathewi

I was first looking to stay at one of the Airport Hotels with free shuttles, who do pick up runs every 30 mins, but reviews on the pickups are mixed. Many complaints of them not being there, cant find them, or waiting a long time to leave. Whereas the Airport train runs every 15 mins on the button, and only 15 minute 30 baht journey. I reckon I would get to/from Nasa Vegas faster than any hotel in Lat Krabhang every time.

At Conrad at the moment, not too impressed with it to be honest.

What's wrong with the Conrad? I've always gotten upgrades from base to a large suite, well looked after there overall. Only con I have on the place is it's not close to the BTS.

Conrad is decent for diamond, but the lounge is hit and miss. Can be overly crowded. Pool is cold and perpetually overshadowed- needs heating.

I like it though, for the price!

Boris- no recommendations out of those mentioned, sorry, but Nahm is good if you like food spicy. It's definitely on the sharper end of hot.
