Qantas is the WORST at this but what makes me frustrated is that they see no problem with not providing a published and advertised benefit. They’ve also become far more militant in that if you dare speak up about your unhappiness and dissatisfaction, you get denied boarding and then banned for a few months!

It’s absurd.

I have been a QF FF since 2002 and within a few months went from bronze to gold, where I comfortably stayed for 10 or so years until I became platinum for the next 6 years. In my last ‘year’ I accrued ZERO status credits with Qantas because I simply can’t be bothered tolerating their dismissive and indifferent attitude to their ‘most valued customers’

Would you care to elaborate on this? Are you saying you've been banned from flying QF because you voiced an opinion?

Slightly unrelated topic but yes.....

Flying from Copenhagen to Melbourne via London and Singapore (BA to Singapore, QF to Melbourne) all on one ticket.

My seat from SIN to MEL was changed for some reason and BA refused/said they couldn’t help and that I’d need to speak wth the QF lounge staff in Singapore, which I did. They could see the seat I had, but said that BA changed it and someone else had taken my old seat. I made my displeasure absolutely clear, and to cut a long story short, I was deemed unfit for travel, and then temporarily banned by QF SECURITY, whilst they investigated my ‘behaviour’ in the lounge. My behviour was a direct result of having a gutful of QF’s incompetence that negatively impacted that entire trip from start to end. I was banned from QF/JQ and codeshares. They also tried to suspend my FF account so I couldn’t use or earn points or make use of my status with other airlines. I bought Ike’s a new ticket on EK the next day and sued QF for the value of the ticket they basically stole from me for denying me carriage.

Needless to say, I have only flown with them a handful of times since.

Getting rid of the golden handshakes has meant I am able to book flights that are not only more convenient, but more often than not, half the price of QF. They used to be worth the premium they charged but have deteriorated to a point where, domestically at least, they are nothing more than a glorified low cost carrier. Internationally, they’re middle of the road, and quite frankly, I get better treatment and value flying the likes of MH, CX and SQ.

So you politely and calmly discussed your displeasure and when they said there is nothing the you can do about getting your original seat back you accepted it and moved and then all this happened?

No. I did not accept it. I told them I had preselected my seat many weeks ago and that as a platinum member, there’s is no excuse or justification for that seat being taken away from me only to obviously be given away to someone else. I know seat allocations are never guaranteed, but you can’t take it away from someone and then give it to someone else. It was not a bassinet seat and I can’t see any other reason why it would be taken back, ie: wasn’t faulty etc.

I told them I had had enough of being mistreated and denied my benefits and that if they’ve couldn’t or wouldn’t uphold their end of the deal, then they could moved to an airline hat would. Whilst this was all being sorted out, the flight to Melbourne closed. They moved me to the SYD flight which left 2 hours later, and just before boarding commenced, told me I was being refused carriage.

There were no other flights that night so I had to get a hotel and booked a new flight with EK the next day.

Qantas refused to refund the unused flight so i sued them for it at VCAT. They didn’t deny they were in the wrong but claimed that VCAT didn’t have jurisdiction because consumer law states that only a ‘court’ and not a ‘tribunal’ has Jurisdiction. So I sued them in the magistrates court and won.

All of this toward a platinum and lifetime gold customer.

How’s that for customer service !

Oh this deserves its own separate thread. I can see this beauty taking on a life of its own.

Mods....please?

*Wanders off to get popcorn*

Being banned by "QF security', and having QFF account suspended, just because of voicing displeasure of a lost seat selection? This is gold and makes so many other threads meaningless :)

Just as a bit of housekeeping juddles - have you heard anything back from QF regarding the outcome of what you described in the original post of this thread? If no - or if you give up waiting, maybe you could ask the mods could merge this thread with the original and extensive thread:
Priority boarding on QF domestic - what is the story?

hmmm's complaint probably deserves its own thread - probably a good time to merge and split.

If I ever lose perspective as a (hopefully one day) Platinum LTG, when I'm moved from one seat to another for no good reason other than presumably a gremlin in the system, and post about my years of loyalty not meaning anything, can someone point me back to this thread?

Don't get me wrong, I believe loyalty is a two-way street, but sometimes stuff just happens. Likewise I've lost bulkhead Y seats for slightly further forward J seats. There's good and bad with each move, it all works itself out.

Either you've posted this before, someone else had the exact same thing happen to them or I've got a serious case of déjà vu.

It's quite possibly the latter...

Ive spat it, did anyone see where it landed?

Gosh. I got a bit antsy when Qantas moved our (double WP) seats last year but banned?

So you politely and calmly discussed your displeasure and when they said there is nothing the you can do about getting your original seat back you accepted it and moved and then all this happened?
One somewhat suspects it was neither polite nor calm.

Wow I thought I had beef with QF...

Did you scream at them or something? Also were you going to lose your booked class of travel by moving seats, or get moved to some other seat in the correct class? Also when did this happen?

I just had a look and the OP posted a similar thing in the Priority Boarding taken over by Communists thread. Maybe that's why it's familiar????
Personally if the OP was screaming and yelling about the poor service I can see why they would be banned - in QF's mind they are a loose cannon and who knows what may have happened in the air. As they say, seating is not guaranteed so why be so p*ssed off when they were moved. They did not know the reason why their original choice was changed and it may have been a perfectly legitimate reason. Just my 2 cents. Just move on.
