Is there a good airline sale website or two where Premium Economy specials are posted?

I am looking at some Brisbane or Sydney to San Francisco flights early next year and want to be able to be notified when specials are available.

Is there a good flight sales company that notifies you of specials via email?

Regards,

Fleetz

You are probably best signing up to the newsletters for the airlines you are interested in who have Premium Economy cabins to SFO. How early next year are you looking? I think you will have a tough time getting any specials in Premium Economy in Jan & Feb?

Thanks.....I will be travelling early April to SFO.

So far I have found Qantas and V Australia having PE seating and have subscribed to both for special alerts.

Are there any other airlines that offer PE class on SYD/BNE > SFO?

Typically how far out do the airline run their specials?

Timings of specials will vary with forward / expected loadings.

Note that VAust you will be flying ex-LAX not ex-SFO (they'll sell connection on VAmerica to SFO iirc)

If transiting LAX is an option, then Air NZ also have Y+ and UA I believe have Y with extra legroom (34" vs 31").

You other alternative would be to buy a ticket SFO-HNL-SFO and get StarClass seating on jetstar, which is a kind-of in between J and Y+ (closer to Y+ in terms of seating). Jetstar will often have sales to/from HNL.

Actually, I think you'd want HNL-SFO-HNL, but otherwise I agree with that recommendation, having taken that route across the Pacific a number of times. The leg from HNL to SFO is only 4-5 hours, and you may even find you can put up with economy for that sector. I recommend Hawaiian, which flys to all three main Bay Area airports, and offers a better standard of service than other US airlines (IMHO).

Of course, the cheapest way to fly Prem Eco across the Pacific is to buy return tickets from the US to Australia, which are often around US$2,500. But this only works if you're flying frequently (at least once a year), and can "prime" the setup with a one-way trip to the US first. As an example, in Nov I'm flying the return leg (MEL-LAX) of the "outbound" leg (LAX-MEL) I flew in June. And in Dec I'll start a new roundtrip with the next LAX-MEL flight.

Having done SYD-HNL and then on to the mainland many times I would not advise this unless you need to stop in HNL as I did.

You are adding a lot of unnecessary pain to your journey considering SYD-SFO is around 14 hours and SYD-HNL is around 10 hours. Then your flight onward to the mainland is at least 5 hours. Take into account the time you need to connect and you are well over the direct flight time with no gain.

Hawaiian Airlines are fine for a domestic US carrier but who would take a packed to the brim HA flight over a QF one in the same class?

And maybe it's just me but it seems as though the route Qantas goes to HNL is exceedingly bumpy and I can never sleep where as to/from LAX or SFO I sleep like a baby.

I just picked up two seats on QF 15/16 PE.
Total price inc taxes was $5995...
They have seated me in 24 E/F on each flight, which on the two class planes is Bus Class seating.
This is an awesome deal. The best J fare I can get at the moment on the same flight is $9500 for one pax....
The food may be slightly lower in quality/quantity but I really don't care.

Cheers Bill,
This is part of the month long celebration that is MrsF's 40th birthday celebrations.....Other parts have included a 9 hour lunch yesterday and a wine fridge that wouldn't look out of place in a bottle shop....
I have booked a room at Aria in Vegas for $119 per night for three nights and got a $100 hotel credit as part of the deal...I will also be trying the renowned $20 trick to see if I can swing a suite.....
I have also booked a Cadillac Escalade (a small block of flats on 4 wheels) from Hertz for $550 for a week, which is also a great deal.

don't forget tax + tips.

That's not what i am worried about.
Mrs F with an Amex is far more of an issue for my finances right now......:D

Did you book this directly with qantas??

I did. But there was a special on Prem Econ at the time.

Pretty happy just booked CNS > BNE > LAX > SFO return for 2 totalling $6998 AUD on Virgin Blue and VA Premium economy. Finished booking directly with Virgin over the phone paid an extra $268 per person doing it that way but everything is connected so there is peace of mind.

Booked 13H and 13K which seems good seats on the PE legs and have lounge privilges on a couple of the connections.

Possibly a better deal might come along but all others I checked were nearly double so I took the bird in the hand approach. Interesting now that the Aussie $ is .98c it might put some pressure on bookings as it becomes cheaper to do stuff in the US so special pricing might be thinner than otherwise would have been. Supply and demand!

THanks for the feedback and guidance it is apreciated.

Regards,

Fleetz
