Seeking advice on following....

I applied and was approved for a Plat Edge card on April 27. The congratulatory messaged noted 'you'll receive it within 7 business days'.
I've since made 6 or 7 follow-up calls but still no sign of it in the mail, or any timeframe on when it might be sent out.

Has anybody experienced anything like this? It's the antithesis of previous Amex CS. I can't speak to anybody else apart from the team at new accounts, any time I call CS they handball me to new accounts. My account exists but because it hasn't been activated I don't seem to exist to CS.

New accounts are somewhat apologetic (a "glitch" in the system and they're aware) but they've guaranteed me follow-up calls (and told me it's been escalated) three times. Yet to receive a single call from Amex on the issue.

Waited 12 days between making two most recent calls and they suggested: "yes the problem is still there, sorry we can't advise when it will be resolved nor timeframe for when it should be resolved ... please keep waiting".

I can't fathom how they can't print a new card or create a new account. They can't explain why this solution is not possible.
I was keen to take advantage of Velocity's 15% top up (likewise my friend who referred me) but that obviously won't happen now.

1) Has anybody experienced anything like this with Amex or another card? IF so, what happened?
2) What is a sensible timeframe to wait before I give up / tell them to close the account I never opened?
3) What sort of compensation do you feel is fair for the above?
4) Does anyone have a CS contact at AMEX? As it stands, 'new accounts' is gatekeeper I simply can't get past.

Thanks in advance!

Exact same issue here. Absolutely pathetic. If I don't receive some sort of compensation for the lies and delays I'll be cancelling the card immediately.

So a quick follow up. I called through today after being promised a call back last Friday (which, as usual, never happened). The card was finally issued a couple of days ago and so I should receive it within the next few days. The customer service representative bought up the topic of compensation, and a whopping 1,000MR points were offered. I politely told him these were worth $10 and didn't come close to compensating me for a 5 week delay and endless lies from various team members. A supervisor offered 5,000MR points and I was told this was the highest they would go. I'll wait until the card arrives, transfer the compensation points and sign-on bonus points, use up the travel credit and then threaten to cancel the card. If no loyalty bonus is offered, I'll be cancelling the card.

Not yet. I got mine super fast but that was ages ago.
My wife was approved for her platinum edge on 29 May. Will see how it goes.

Is it possible that AMEX is overloaded with applications because everyones jumping on them. Seems plausible.

I got mine last friday on 02/06/17 when it was approved on 27/04/17.

Can't fault them, seemed that amex has a lot of issues lately.
