Hi everyone

Just wondering if anyone has been and had first hand experience in ticketing, accommodation and travel. If you have any pro tips it would be much appreciated. e.g.
1. did you manage to secure good tickets for semis and finals
2. which airline did you fly with (from oz)
3. where did you stay?
4. anything you would like to have done differently

I have read online in various forums regarding how difficult it may be to obtain tickets!! will be lining up or maybe need a macro of some sort.... not sure.

Thanks! - Scheps

I would suggest contacting initially your state Tennis body (eg. Tennis Queensland as I see you are Brisbane based) or if they cant help Tennis Australia as they often can access grand Slam seats (usually you go in a ballot) which may be easier than dealing directly with FFT. They certainly do this with Wimbledon, I am assuming something similar with French Open. Cant help directly with ticket source - we had local (personal) contacts who arranged tickets for us. But am guessing a phone call to Tennis Qld or Tennis Aus would be a good start. You may also need to be a member of a local club to access any ballot (again the Wimbledon ticket ballot works this way). Even if they dont do a FO ballot, I'm guessing they'll know the best methods to get (decent) tickets.

Contacts – Tennis Queensland

You can also join eg. Australian Davis Cup Foundation which sometimes gets priority access also to various tennis events.

RG is MUCH smaller in ground size than eg. Melbourne Park so be prepared for that. There is a redevelopment proposal that has taken years to get going and is very political.

Last visit (~2010) we stayed in the city and just headed out there each day (we went 3 days mid-late tournament about quarter final stage).

Happy to answer other questions if i can. FWIW we flew the old QF29 route MEL-HKG-LHR then connected to BA LHR-CDG. But there's plenty of options to CDG.

After some search, i also realised perhaps should have been more organised and purchased one of those single corporate tickets, as expected, essentially sold out!

Have you spoken to TQ or TA?

TA, they didnt say much. i might need to talk to another one. A bit like trying to get a release on a JASA years (seems like years) ago. :)

its not a ballot like wimbledon. I heard with the ballot they were more useful/helpful.

Sorry, I never replied with any further info from my experience.

However, I did receive this email yesterday indicating that Premium Ticket Packages (which generally includes catering of some sort) go on sale today.

Not Roland Garros but I’m going to one of the days of the Italian Open (one level down from grand slams) in Rome in May. Tickets were easy to come by on their website. It’s early in the week so not sure what it would be like for the finals on the weekend.

My plans got torpedoed as my sister in law is getting married at the same time.... can not believe it.... maybe another clay court tournament like NoName :)

Monte Carlo would be great. Amazing scenery every way you look. Very picturesque. It’s on in 3 weeks so flick on ESPN one night and you’ll see what I mean.

The Italian Open is at the Foro Italico in Rome which is a tourist attraction in its own right. Will be killing two birds with one stone.

Agree, Monte-Carlo or Italian Open the “pick of the rest” at that time of year.

Hi

As a French I have been many times to Roland Garros.
Tickets are hard to get but manageable
No airline for me but I would recommend Singapore Airlines
You will find good Airbnb, do not go near the stadium, choose somewhere in the city (Paris 1, 2, 3 or 4, 11 and 18 are cheaper but nice)

Guillaume

12 months later i have the chance to go again (last year unexpected could not).

Anyone picked those premium packages? Wonder what your experience was. Even better, anyone done the sensation package? it is very confusing about duration of the tickets... guarenteed for 2 years... ???!

I haven't been to the French Open but I went to Roland Garros once out of the tennis season for a 'backstage' tour. It was fascinating and we saw everything, players' lounge and dressing rooms and all. Highly recommended for tennis fans.
