Being told to stow Laptop for takeoff and landing?

They were complaining about Skywest, which is the operator of the flight, and what makes a difference. The policies such as stowage of devices varies by airline and is part of their AOC, which is why a DJ numbered flight with a FK100 from Alliance means no mobile use at anytime.
The majority of the 50 flights have been to emerald with virgin, which are all operated by skywest and this was the first time i was requested to stow a laptop. not sure if it was a new thing they'd brought in.

whatever the crew say there is always on EVERY FLIGHT:

- several, probably dozens of phones turned on
- bags being held in peoples hands
- laptops stowed incorrectly
- ipads stowed incorrectly
- people using various electronic items
- have seats reclined during takeoff or landing
- have window shades down when told to leave them up during takeoff or landing

I know I and many people on here follow the instructions on these things but in my experience (of 5000 sectors per annum) - it seems to me a large amount of travellers couldn't care less!

Don't care less or don't understand the consequences could be the same in this case.

Also 5000 sectors pa ie 13.7 per day is impressive :!:

yes it is isn't it?

And you are right, don't understand the consequences. with flying being so safe these days perhaps we need a few more crashes / well publicised inflight injuries attributed to idiot passengers to get the message through? (no fatalities of course).

Going thru Europe was asked to take iPad out of bag( Tegel). In Australia was asked to put it back in!
First time was asked to remove my glasses when going thru security screening. Also in Berlin....hmmmm

Perhaps it due to the ATR. I know the seat pockets on the ATR are total different design to others, so maybe its a space thing specific to the ATR. Regardless though, every flight I have ever been on, they insist hand luggage is stowed for takeoff and landing, so a laptop should be stowed
