Recalling the occasional problems QF have with English grammar and spelling on its web pages and e-mails, maybe its just as well?
I'm surprised QF doesnt offer an option to push the kiosk into another language (ie. a series of flags in the corner like many european train ticket machines have....?)
The boarding pass readers at the gates are also RFID readers. When using your Qantas Card next time, don't scan the barcode, just place the card face up, and it will scan and read the card (like it would the barcode).
Interesting, the staff have always taken the card and scanned the barcode on the reverse side. At least that's my experience.

The downside is the expectation. Mrs D. arriving at the gate with her WP card and assuming I've already selected her favorite seat and checked her in. Only happened once!
They use the barcode for boarding passes I don't know why, the 'Q-Chip' is for bag drop/check-in/lounge entry
I did that a few times, and I guess I'm the impatient one as it seems to take forever for the little ticket to print out after the card is scanned. (ok, it's only a couple of seconds, but it feels like an eternity to me). For some reason, I don't like standing around at the gate.A ff card with the chip works as a boarding pass no matter how you checked in eg some ppl find is easier to do mobile checkin but scan their card at the gate instead of the QR code on the phone. Your ff number must be in the pnr for it to work. It doesn't matter which way the card is scanned as it will work either way.
