I've got an award booked through Delta Airways on WestJet (WS) from Moncton (YQM) to Victoria (YYJ) next year. The award cost 12,500 points + ~$40 CAD in taxes and fees (not bad when fares are north of $600 AUD during when I want to travel). As a Delta Gold Medallion (until Feb 1, 2024) I was able to select any seat on the WestJet flight. However, one concern I have is that I won't have Delta Gold status when I take that flight in July.

So I am thinking of switching my frequent flyer over to QFF before the flight and am wondering if there are any benefits I'd expect to receive as a QF Platinum? Looking at the QF site for them, it seems like the answer is a clear no. However, I would be curious if that is the reality, or if in practice there is some recognition? Additionally could one earn QFF points on a WS award ticket? Again, I think the answer here is no, but would be curious if anyone has tried this stunt with Delta issued WS awards?

I would suggest nil, zip, zilch chance but hey you might get lucky.
Needs to be booked under a QF code for lounge access, status credits etc

One could only hope for a helpful schedule change that causes the tickets to be reissued in full Y.

Not too worried about lounge access since I already can access the WestJet lounge thanks to my AmEx Platinum card. Baggage may or may not be useful depending on how Delta WestJet awards work.

Have your e-ticket with baggage details ready. I had 26kgs recently on a West jet YYC to YVR flight that was a QF (081xx_) issued ticket. They wanted to charge me for the extra kg even though flying premium and connecting to a J YVR- SYD flight. Had to show them the original ticket with an allowance of 3 pieces each of 32kgs (approx) before they waived the charge for the extra kg.

In my case the e-ticket issued by Delta clearly indicates I'm entitled to two bags (of 32 kg each), so will use that should I get any pushback from WS.
