dampen my enthusiasm and the wall started to head into new suburbia so was not simple to follow, so I goofed off into the “town centre”
And this is the QR code link www.world-qr.com
it has quite a number of the local sites eg Grenz = Border
back on the canal
the Carnivals in Tetlow
Or is it?
finally trundled into Tetlow S-Bahn station. It was the fast trip to Lichtenfelde Süd because I can't be bothered to walk in the dark in endless forest.... exhausted
That it is .... something like 3 marathons across a week....
all the way around the yellow, outer green and along the blue to around the boundary of Stieglitz and Tempelhof,
the remainder of blue to Schönefeld airport looks to be forest so that part is probably becoming unviable in the time left available ...
so 5 October 2019 was a REST DAY, although I’ll come back because I did find the Grenzturm in Potsdamer palace
BUT I will keep the sections in sequential order. Running out of time but at least getting time to see friends and just relax....
Running out of time but at least getting time to see friends and just sit and relax....
Not built for Comfort and reminds me of the cookie cutter high schools constructed In The 1960s
I did a short backtrack from Lichterfelde Sud station towards Tetlow To visit the cherry blossoms.
it wax a short walk to the Lakec
here there was the original border fence, and damn it, walking in thongs on the heavily wooded riverbank inside the fence, I strayed onto a f...g piece of barbed wire! Fortunately, it didn’t pierce the bottom of my foot.... but sufficient to be wary...
so it was off to see both sides of the former wall zone
cobbles and community gardens
this is where I snagged a small piece of barbed wire from the former border fence.... fortunately minor, and besides I had had a tetanus injection less than a year before AS RESULT of a rooftop accident so all good.
cherry blossoms
The border strip and re-opened streets
a little bouncy here....
Back to the station
So since The route running from Lichtenrade to Lichterfelde had been touted as “one of the most scenic“ but with very few traces of the GDR’s border installations left, I departed after this short cameo and to continue to heal my sore feet and toes.
However, across my time in berlin I did various parts of the 3 outstanding sections plus of course had done so on past trips. so to complete this trek tour trip report, I will post each leg separately in continuity so as if a full ring loop was completed. And as might bring said, “l left my best on the track” and “left something to look forward next time”
and learnt lots !
so many enchanting stations. Could be an entire trip of its own
same station - completely different interior designs
Well on my last legs this was my last leg so of course I stepped on glass on the grass. ....ahead of Norwegian to Stockholm....
unicorns might fly
so it was a 6.5km walk from Aldershof station to schonefeld... however I will keep the photos in the reverse order to keep the continuity going....
quite some former Wall sections on this part of the walking trail
A day of rest up My right calf and shin splints. Yuk. Tallied the kms to just over 100 kms in 7 days Still crawled to U Bahn - off to Potsdamer Platz To visit the last tower left standing.... tucked off down a side street, the once vast emptiness is filled with endless buildings of...
