Many thanks to Aisle Seat H, my FT friend from the UK, who came up with the status match information:

All details on how to do the UA status match is here on Flyertalk (see where it says 'Joining Mileage Plus with Status') - and it is very easy and normally comes through in a few days. Lots more info on the Status Match Thread too if you need it.

He will, if he does it now, only be comped to the end of 2006.

Now let's see how it goes...
Excellent link thanks Lindsay Wilson. If only QF were as generous comping status back the other way  .

Let us know how it goes...

Don't we all love it when a plan comes together....

Email my brother received this morning and needless to say, I have certainly won more respect from my brother:

Either of you  could go to Cook Islands or somewhere if preferred. Cook Islands usually retails for about Aus$1,300 with NZ  . Not bad value hey...

Well, he's off tomorrow and just in at work (not doing any  ) making sure that everything will be under control during his 6 week sojourn.

As a UA PremEx (*A Gold??), I understand he gets access to *A lounges at BNE and SIN (then LHR and SIN on his return). Which lounges should he entertain accessing and can he take a guest (they'd be also flying the same *A flights, as all Lounges will no doubt be airiside)??

I love it. Post a message and wait for the email service to advise all who have posted here that there's a new mesage.

Then surfed a couple of threads and checked the front page. Sure enough, Kiwi Flyer now logged on....

Now I'm just awaiting his reply   8)

At BNE there is choice between SQ (turn right after clearing immigration) and NZ (turn left underneath QP). SQ lounge is better but limited opening hours.

At SIN only T2 Premium lounge (quite nice & fairly new next to SQ lounge which he WONT have access as it is not a *G lounge), or in T1 TG lounge (which isnt so good).

At LHR a choice of SQ (nice), AC/SK London lounge (also nice) or UA RCC (bad).

Yep Prem Exec. is mid tier in the United FFP & *A Gold level. Kiwi Flyer (as usual) is spot on with the lounge advice. Shame as *G he can't access the best SIN lounge but that's the way the cookie crumbles.

And yes I'm e-mailed subscribed so hope this response is prompt enough :P .

Its a shame I'm not passing through SIN and cant help him with access. With the number of my trips through SIN, the odds are good but not that good.

Excellent, thanks Kiwi Flyer and for the back-up BlacKnox.

Now to see if he's and selected seats. Can he do this on the SQ website at this late stage??

Even better he can OLCI and select seats at same time. OLCI opens 24 hours before scheduled departure.

Unlike some airlines, OLCI with SQ doesnt not include printing your own BP. However there is a special check in line for OLCI.

OLCI is an excellent facility, and an oversight of the Abbreviations thread (i think). OLCI at home/ hotel, and then physically collect boarding pass either at the OLCI line or *G elite line; whichever is smaller.

Oh me of little faith - OLCI was already in the abbrev. thread  .

He's having trouble getting his UA number into his booking. Not sure whether he gave to the Corporate TA, but is there any way (other than over the phone to SQ) that he can add his UA number into his reloc. Been on hold with SQ for over 20 mins  ...

I presume you mean on-line. If you're using a MAC, try a windows PC.

Hang in there LW :P . Of course you could try the TA again, at OLCI (if you can) or present the UA card when collecting boarding pass tomorrow.

He gave up trying, so it's show the UA Status Match email at check-in tomorrow to get his UA FF number noted. Don't know whether he gave to Corporat TA and/or whether it has been inserted (but don't think so).

Pity, because I was trying to make sure that he got the best of any seats still available, as I gave him the SQ Seat Guru page

Has he given up on OLCI? I'm not sure what the problem is :? .

An obvious point, but make sure he gets his UA FF number allocated to all SQ flight segments at check-in/ boarding pass collection (due to OLCI - On Line Check In) if necessary tomorrow.

No, he gave up waiting on hold with SQ...and as I don't have his UA number, there's nohing I can do now. He can select his own seats this afternoon...I tried, but he didn't want to seem to want to be helped, so let him make his own mistakes  ...
