Best Airbus A380 memories (so far)

One and only F experience was TG A380 BKK-CDG and FRA-BKK, and what made it even better was that it was all done for 'free' for the points price of J on one of the old US miles runs.

Also doing SQ A380 J to Europe and back with a 4 month old, the sheer space for the 3 of us just made the trip so easy.

I was fortunate enough to fly quite a lot of A380s with different airlines!

Twice with EK CDG-DXB and then 777s to Colombo.
Once from JNB to LHR with BA in the upper private economy section at the back of the deck - one of the best cabin I have ever been in as a Y traveller on a Euro 300 return CDG-JNB (fantastic value at that time).
Around ten times in EY A380 Economy Cabin.

Whilst in Europe or at least in France points earning credit cards are non-existent, apart from the AF Amex card, I am slowly building my points stash on different programs.

Etihad is for me the best cabin for a Y traveller.
In the beginning, when they were not charging for seats, you could choose your seats at the beginning of the deck in the small cabin with the stairs where J and F passengers are going. This cabin is the best, so much legroom, usually extremely quiet and you do not hear the engine.

The aircraft is super clean, IFE Is fantastic, and I do prefer them to EK where it's a bit too much everywhere.

As I only fly with EY when I am going to Europe two or three times a year, I have been able to maintain my Gold status with them and now am Platinum. I am always very excited when I can fly comfortably and still have a flawless experience, from check-in, to lounge access, seats and food.
Flew them from Melbourne, Sydney, Paris and London in A380s and Hong-Kong, Brussels and Francfort in 787.

I flew with them on my birthday, and I was fortunate enough to get a cake and a card from the crew. I know it's nothing crazy, but the intention was there, and that was a pleasant flight.

I am relatively young and pleased with how I am always well treated when I fly EY. Fantastic with VA when you arrive from your long flight from Europe.
I am quite attached to those two airlines as they were the airlines I flew before moving to Brisbane, so might be a bit biased.

Never had the luck yet or enough points to fly J/F internationally, but this will come, one day!
Hopefully we will be able to fly again an A380 soon enough.

QF, which began in Queensland 100 years ago come November, and still bears the Q, never deigned to fly the A380 in Queensland. I believe that it is the only type they have not flown in the state which spawned them 100 years ago, except for a brief period a few years hence.

Goodness me no, said blob, it's a mistake that QANTAS stands for that; they've made a mistake.

- QF8 inaugural (+Y load restrictions on that route)
- Upper Deck Y QF (RIP)
- QF32 24hr delay out of LHR, this allowing me to attend a last minute social engagement, with a op-up on SIN-SYD to Y+
- Across the 'dutch' in the EK bird bird!

Only good memories of A380's...meant I was going somewhere for a holiday...or coming home after one.

I'm sure they would have been perfectly happy to fly it to Wagga, if there had been viable loads.

In any event, as soon as management decided to renege on the last 8 aircraft, any additional ports were not going to happen.

After 154 Flights on the A380, and many more to come one hopes, there are way too many good memories, from the shower on EK, to sitting in the coughpit with JB.

The great sense of excitement as I boarded the great lady, at the start of another great adventure.

The A380 is a culmination of many and varied experiences that has made her my favorite bird of all time.

Ohhhhh How I long once again to climb on board and be whisked away to adventures new.

I've flown A380s a number of times and my best memory was the excitement of a points upgrade to F in QF10 LHR to MEL in 2017. The extra room, the food, the bed, the EK F lounge, everything. Sigh.

My first J flight ever was on QF2 LHR SYD. First time I requested a J upgrade. Skybed 2. I was very excited, and I also was completly exhausted from work. I only remember asking the flight attendent how things work in J and how to make the seat a bed 😀 He kindly prep it for me.... and that's literaly all I remember.

I flew it many time in Y. Always amazed how I could sleep throught take off and landing. So quiet. Got lucky several times and scored a row of 3 or 4 seats for myself.

We are lucky enough that we have only ever flown in the F cabins of A380s which has meant we have had some fantastic memories (and all thanks to FF points).

First trip was 2016 EY AUH-LHR which was absolutely mindblowing, Seeing the giant bird as we were boarding was almost surreal. I don't think I stopped smiling for the entire trip.

We then took SQ Suites home from ZRH-SIN and the SQ service was exceptional. I went for a lap around the plane to strech the legs and the SQ girls were adamant that I needed an escorted tour. We had a great time chatting wiith the staff and I think to this day it has been my favourite ever flight.

We had another more recent 2019 trip from SIN-LHR in the old Suites which was a highlight of the trip. Our last A380 flight was FCO-DXB on EK was the most fun we have had on a flight. I am just hoping it isn't the last time we get to board one.

I am glad I managed to pick up one of these as well

All of my QF flights have been in Y, and whilst I've done some fun ones in the A380, my most memorable would be EK F.

I had enough points for 2x EK F award seats from SYD-AKL. It was my first (and only) F flight, our first time on EK, and it was my mrs's first premium cabin flight full stop.

Whilst it was only a short flight, we did it all, the shower, the drink at the bar, a movie, the mrs even had a little sleep (it was an early morning for us) and of course gave the mrs a taste of the QF F Lounge at SYD. Even got a hire car so we'd have someone with our name waiting for us once we'd gotten through customs. Coming back we did it in J, although coming back I couldn't go nuts at the bar as I knew I had a SYD-CBR drive coming up after landing.

We did the weekend properly, we stayed in a nice hotel, got dressed up for dinner (me in a bow tie, don't see it very often), and enjoyed our first (ever) international trip without kids.

My first flight on an A380 was in about 2007 in SQ, but only in Y. I selected a seat two or three rows from the back. The other seats were empty so it made for a comfortable flight.

I was surprised at how quiet it was in taking off, though at the time I recall (mistakenly) thinking it was sluggish on the takeoff roll.

I didn't ever travel in F but in J it was very pleasant on SQ. Once on EK I was upgraded to J; when I asked why, the check in lady at MEL said 'you look presentable and quiet'. Hmmm.

Sitting in 80A/80K.

But along with 747 the best experience of sitting in comfortable economy seats.

I've been known to specifically look for these aircraft travelling to/from Asia over the A330/777/787 and now A350.

QR first from Doha to Melbourne. It was just lovely.

1. QF A380 SIN-SYD 2018 - mini Y cabin upstairs, as newly minted SG. FA were super friendly. I remember, even as a SG (or even Silver those days in premium cabins), the CSM came to the seat, had a word, offered a drink etc

2. QF A380 SIN-SYD 2018 - Y+ upgraded with points as a newly minted QF Silver (forgot what it's called in the "code"). Seated aisle with someone in the window. Before take-off, was welcomed by the cabin manager. That was the first time I had a glimpse at the iPad they carry that details paxs' status etc. As this was a points upgrade on the day of the journey, my pre-ordered meal was not available in Y+. As the meals were distributed, I asked for a vego meal (and explained that I had been upgraded and I put a special meals request for Y cabin). The FA mentioned that they had 2 vego meals loaded for Y+ and they are all taken. Was offered cheese, wine and other snacks to compensate. As I was about to say ok to the snacks, a pax from the row before, turned and said, I have a vego meal, but I think I will try the fish. You are happy to take my meal, if you like! And I was like, YES! thank you! Slept thru the flight after the meal. I was tired after a 10 day trip to the Himalayas. Also, before meal service, the FA came over to my seat and said that there are empty seats in the Y+ cabin and I'm free to move around if I like. So I moved to the last row of Y+

3. QF A380 SYD-SIN 2019 - Y cabin downstairs. This was one of the first O/S trips as WP. Was welcomed at the door and the CSM did his best trying to pronounce my first & last names. After 5 seconds of glaring at my BP and trying to pronounce, I said, "Ade is fine". He goes "Thank you, Welcome back Mr. Ade". He was super friendly through the flight. Every now and then as he passed my seat, he'd stop by for a quick chinwag (see what I did there ;)) And I think this was the first (& last) time I was offered a piece of cake from F ... It was a chocolate cake, if I remember correctly ... Also I was offered some snacks from J, I think .. don't remember correctly!

I always put in an upgrade request to J from Y, but was never successful. so, never did J or F in A380's so far ... someday, perhaps!
