Hi (again) collective genius'....

I have a question re what my goal should be in order to do Sydney>Mahe in J.

Backstory: I'm out of my mind excited because my wife who is not a fan of air travel messaged me as soon as I landed in Dehradun a couple of weeks ago saying that she's made a decision and she was ready to travel
In the past two years I've visited France, Italy, Japan, Nepal and India.....all on my own. She's happy for me to travel but we're like lovestruck teenagers when we're apart. Our trip (together) will likely be early next year and we'll be heading to La Digue in the Seychelles. I'm hoping I can get some help from you guys so I can focus my points goals and get started before contacting everyones favourite Travel Managers.

The most direct/shortest flights from Sydney to Mahe looks to be via Perth & Mauritius.....Virgin/Air Mauritius. I'm not sure how this would be booked eg which airline, and how many points would be necessary to get an upgrade from premium economy to business.

I've just done the Amex/QF card promo for 80k points so as soon as they post I'll be cancelling that card. I see that there's an NAB/Velocity card promo that's been extended through to April so wondering if that's the best option and whether or not we should perhaps apply for one each to maximize points haul....again, I don't know how many points required to get to Seychelles.

Any advice would be gratefully appreciated.....did I say how excited I was? I REALLY want this trip to be very special.

Thanks all
Brett

I think another option is Syd-Auh-Sez on EY. Might be able to use VA points.

...something I'd definitely consider if traveling on my own but in this case the flight times are too long. The way I'm hoping to route is the most direct/least amount of time in the air. Sydney > Perth > Mauritius > Mahe
