New to forum so apologies if this question has been done before.
I spend more than $15,000 a month on credit card, always pay full amount on time, main priority is earning maximum travel rewards WITHOUT annual restriction on points earned. Annual fee not a great issue. Am Qantas FF member and was happy with CBA platinum mastercard till they changed all the rules. What's the best card for me now?

Were you looking at Visa or Amex? If Amex, either the platinum Charge card, or one of the ultimate cards as they earn 1.5 points per dollar.

Visa I'm not sure. Probably NAB visa.

Even Amex gold has 1.25 per dollar, with no limits: and with $15,000 per month, you'll be flying everywhere quickly!

I am not aware of any Amex with both flexiblity and more than 1:1 which has no limits.

Platinum Charge is only 1:1.5 up to $200K, then drops back to 1:1. I believe Centurion goes up to $400Kpa at 1:1.5 before dropping back to 1:1. The Platinum Credit Card (which has the flexbility of Ascent Premium when held in conjunction with a Platinum Charge Card) earns 1:1.5 up to $100K pa, then drops back to 1:1.

I guess there is no limit - but only at 1 point per dollar - the higher rates all cap out.

NAB platinum QANTAS card should be the best for you, it comes with both AEMX & VISA. The earning ratio is quite good too, AMEX gives you $1:1.5 and visa comes with $3:2, NO CAPPING points plus you get complimentary travel insurance as well etc. The annual fee is $290 but as you mentioned that won't be a issue for you.

PS: NAB is running promotion at the moment, if you apply before Sep 10 and you will get 20000 bonus points.

Wow
thanks to you all for the comprehensive advice. The Qantas platinum Amex sounds like the best bet at $1 to 1.5 points, no cap though I need to clarify the potential drop-back point in earning ratio as mentioned by equus.
A Qantas Ultimate Amex looked good from my own research though I noted that annual fee was $450. I'll check things out at local NAB branch tomorrow!

Do bear in mind that the card comes with a return domestic flight per year; in my own estimation, I value this at about $300 - $350, which brings the "real" annual fee down to a much more reasonable $100 - $150.

Given your requirements, I'd definitely recommend one of the higher-end AmEx cards; am v happy with mine. :)

Hope I'm not too late with this reply. Have you considered the Westpac KF card. Depending on where you want to redeem if you want overseas flights my calc would go like this:

$15,000 spend per month = $175,000 annual spend. ie

Qantas solution

Amex 1:1 175.000 points up to (Plat Amex 1:1.5 262,500)

Redeem 175,000 for

2 x Frankfurt Return in Y @ 128,000pts + $337.28 taxes
plus if you get the Plat Amex
1 x Los Angeles in Y @ 96,000 + $330.08

Westpac Krisflyer
Amex 1:1.5 262,500 points

3 x Frankfurt Return in Y @ 80,750pts + $585.38
1 x AKL (or RAR) Return in Y @ 20,000pts + ~$150

By my calc you would be one long distance flight better off with the Wpac KF Platinum card which is also fee free year one.

Starting point would be 1) Where you want to go and 2) Checking how much of the spend can go onto Amex ie Amex is accepted by the merchants.

Alby

Is that the business Gold card? the personal is 1:1

Sorry - Gold card was previous Amex - now use Qantas American Express Premium Card: is 1.25 points for dollar spent - and since have paid for number of J or F class Sydney to Europe tickets ina year, no problems with caps.
