I am flying in discount business to Singapore, from the seat selection page it looks like the following layout SeatGuru Seat Map Qantas

Is this correct? Does the map mean the even rows are closer to the window?

Because of the curve of the seat you won't get a good view of sunset in J.
But closer to window it is.
Have used J on QF A330 twice, one dom and one int.
If outside view not important but you don't want to be too visible from aisle, closer to window seats on QF A330 are very good.

I would suggest you do a quick Google....there are a plethora of reviews with pics. We are many years into these new suites now.

For the claustrophobic amongst us, am I right in thinking they aren't as shut in as the JAL 773 window seats?
Oh! not something I think I can answer… I think the JAL window seats (apex suites) are some of the most spacious and private seats in any business class… an actual ‘suite’ rather than a seat! But no, they aren’t as enclosed as JAL. They offer a little more privacy in that you’re not right on the aisle getting bumped. But they’re not a ‘suite’ as QF PR makes out.

Oh oops hang on, I followed you talking about the Singapore seats (because I'm booked on them and chose the window seats for the greater privacy. The issue for me with JAL is that there is a tiny opening to get in/out of them and you'd have to do some yoga moves to get up and out if the bed is down. Already feeling panic at the mere thought of that! But I think Singapore aren't quite so tight/enclosed as you say, right?)

That’s right, singapore and qantas are quite open.

The single toilet is the give away that's its the domestic config. Bulkhead seats will have a bigger footwell.
